Should polygamy be legal?

I think it's normal for men to be polygamous. I think a man should marry at least 4 women. what do you think

On one hand, why is polygamy needed? I had an employee in Houston who lived with three women. The only difference in a "marriage" and cohabitation is a piece of paper at the court house. They all slept together, lived together, shared their bills and money together, etc. They were, in practice, all three married, except for the piece of paper at Harris County Courthouse.

On the other hand, wouldn't that be problem legally? As an employer, would you expect me to provide health benefits for you and your 20 wives? How would I afford that? Would you want $25 per hour wages plus dental/medical for 20 wives and 35 kids? Would you want 30 days family leave time the gov't says you get each time you knocked up one of your 20 wives? Heck, you'd never be at work. How are your kids gonna feel when you die with 25,000 in the bank and each kid only inherits $400? How are you going to afford to send them 35 kids to college? Sounds to me like you want to stay in divorce court the rest of your life. Works for me though. I charge $365 per hour for a divorce. Your idea would increase my annual income by 5,000% LOL

Marriage is more than just sex., it’s more of a headache the amount of work you have to put into it after the honeymoon stage wears off. So you really think you can handle four partners? You have to put up with each temperament, annoying habits that they each have, if you piss one of them off, you will probably have all four of them against you because women are pack creatures in my opinion. .,.

It should be legal for those who can afford to have 4 wives and provide the same benefits for all of them. Where I live is legal for a man to have multiple wives yet most of them have one wife only.

In my unrealistic dreams, it would be great to have many women. But, getting back to reality, one woman is more than enough for me.

I do wonder, though, why is polygamy illegal. If the participants are willing, shouldn't they be able to without breaking the law?

whether it's legal or not, modern western society is already trending towards that direction socially

open relationships, open marriages and cuckoldry are already becoming commonplace

modern women are demanding perfect men and willing to share that small percentage of perfect men

modern men are bowing out of dating and society is actively encouraging them to bow out regardless of what choice they take whereby the only way to win (according to society) is to win and make this entirely the fault of men for modern women's feelings

No that’s simply bollox. They can live with them but marriage is for two people, does not matter if straight or gay but not for more than one partner.
Also the legal side of things would be lol, guy with a nice house having to divide it up come divorce time 🤣

I think it should be legal. As long as everyone consents to it, anything should go when it comes to relationships.

I think I'd be happy with one girl that I'm compatible with though. I prefer the idea of having that one person that knows me inside out, will always have my back and is waiting for me on the other side or that I wait for on the other side. It feels like a deeper bond when you give one person all of your time.

if he can afford it then go for it. that's not how it works in mormon societies though. and other disturbing marriage allowances.

there are several places that allow the practice. but why would you? women don't even want that anymore. they are perfectly fine getting serviced with a new man everyday. that's scares me a little. i worry for the STD's and AIDS

I think people have been changing western society on a whim too much and the whole thing is in danger of collapsing because people focused on short term fun or personal issues instead of long term social stability.

I think all legalities should be removed from the institution of marriage and we leave such decisions up to the couple (s) or persons involved in the relationship.

Doesn't really matter , its still legal but just how you structure it , in Australia for example , they just officially marry one , and the other 3 or so are a Civil Ceremony.

I think a woman should be able to have 100 husbands and vice versa. But legally, they only get to have one. Can you imagine what a train wreck it would be in divorce court?

Well that is common in the state of Utah. The first wife gets to be the legal wife and the rest of the sister wife's get to be sealed in the Temple. Bit not sure how that works.
