Can men be good at wedding plannings?

Obviously that's our natural task. We would know about wedding plannings; the place, the venues, the cake, food, party, design, etc.

Though if a man wanted to be involved in that female task, can he be just as good and creative too? Or men just aren't good at wedding plannings and suck at it?

There is nothing innate about women being wedding planners. Most women WANT to plan their wedding, because it is their opportunity to make dreams and fantasies come true. Most guys recognize this motivation and they are happy to have women plan the event. That is what happens most of the time.

I got married on April 27 this year. My wife is from China and she has family who still live in China. She invited her family and they were eager to see an American wedding. Only problem is that my wife knew nothing about American weddings, so the planning was left to me.

I selected

the date and time for the wedding rehearsal

the venue for the rehearsal dinner

the menu for the rehearsal dinner

bought gifts for the bridal party

selected the wedding venue

the officiants

selected the wedding rings

the florist

the photographer

the string quartet

all the music for the wedding

selected the vocal solo for the wedding, located the music, and sang it with piano and string quartet accompaniment

invited the church choir to sing at the wedding and selected all of their music

selected formal wear for me and my best man

prepared and mailed the invitations

ordered the guest book

tracked the RSVPs

wrote and printed the wedding programs

I selected the venue for the reception

the menu for the dinner

hired the band for the reception

hired the bakery for the cake

ordered engraved champagne flutes for our toast

rented the car for us and hotel rooms for the bridal party and out of town guests

gave directions to the band about music to play and music to not play (I threatened to not pay them if they played YMCA.)

I selected the location for the honeymoon

selected the airbnb in which we stayed

established the budget for the event

and paid about $34,000 of the total of $35,000 for the wedding and honeymoon

and did about 500 other details

and I encouraged my fiancee to get involved as much as she wanted, so she handled about three items.

Every single person who attended, and every single vendor involved, said it was the most beautiful and perfect wedding they had ever attended. So. . . yes, men are capable of planning weddings.

I am 69 years old, my wife is 60 but shy and reserved, and no one expected this. It brought the house down! And it was great fun for us.

I TRIED to be helpful but apparently my ideas were "mocking" it and I would "regret" it. I wanted all the guys to be dressed like the Beatles on Sgt Pepper album and guests to be dressed however they felt like.

My experience of it has only been secondhand, but it suggests men would actually be significantly BETTER at planning weddings. The typical woman hears about the innumerable distinctions in colors of gladiolus available for centerpieces, and spends weeks on the verge of panic about it; the typical man will be asked, and reply with a far more sensible "who cares?". Push him too hard on it, and he'll drop the "ol" and have different colors of gladius at each table.

Say what you will, THAT would make for a memorable wedding.

Interesting. So it's not too much about the lack of knowledge nor skills for it but simply not caring much. Once motivated and if he wanted to, he excels at it.

Oh gawd no. If left up to me, it would be a disaster.
I had to choose the Cars for My Wife and I, and the families to go to the Reception.
I chose a Rolls Royce.. I always liked the name 'Corniche' from years ago. So I chose that for us... I never realised Corniche was a 2 door! There is my Wife trying to get in to the bloomin' thing in her Wedding Dress!
