What are your thoughts on a courthouse wedding versus a huge wedding?

We are renewing our vows but I would enjoy a courthouse wedding. I don't wanna spend thousands of dollars right now on a huge wedding. Especially not right now, but maybe down the road. My husband and I would love to go to the courthouse to renew our vows. Nevertheless, family members that have been cut off expect an invite still. His mom, siblings, nieces, and nephews are the only ones going to be present. I want a small family only wedding.

While my spouse was away for work, people treated me with disgust and ruined every aspect of my character. My husband was well-known in our neighborhood, but he kept his personal and professional lives apart. He did not bring his real life outside of the home.

We live in a small gossiping community where everyone wants to know your business, and if they don't know anything about your life or you're not a member of their so-called "clique," they'll spread rumors. I stay at home and keep to myself, but that's not enough. This town will continue to spread rumors with "I heard". People in this town will say "Oh, I heard that his water is cut off" if you pee in a garbage can with no one around you. You can go to the store and mind your own business. As soon as you arrive home, someone is going to call you and say, "Girl, I heard you were in the store spending so much money; how are you doing?"

There are people that live in our community that you haven't seen ever before. It is hard to date people here because the gossipers wanna control that as well. The community we live in makes it hard to live here unless they know your business.

I just wanted to express why I want a closed private wedding. I want to live my life in this community without the community interfering with my life and destroying it.

I am all for a courthouse wedding over a large wedding. Like you said it's expensive and if you really don't want that then why do that? It should be about what you and your husband wants. F what other people think.

Legally, there is no difference. A large wedding is done so that all your friends and relatives can participate in your wedding, while a courthouse wedding is really just for the couple.

Go to the courthouse to get married, don't tell anyone until after you are married. Tell the family to pay for a party, if they want one. A simple BBQ works well too...🇨🇦😎

Too many people splurge on big weddings and a new house. This usually results in financial problems that kill a majority of the marriages. There were some newlyweds that bought a house down the street where I live. They also had a new van so they could start having children. Next thing I knew the house was back for sale and they were getting a divorce. I imagine that $6,000 a month house payment and planning failure did them in.

Well do people renew their vows in a courthouse?

For me a church wedding is the only way to go whether the reception is big or small. If I was to renew my vows I would want a church blessing of sorts if they do that, I've never heard of it. Sounds like all you need is a priest or other religious pastor of sorts to officiate it and then a party, this could be done in your home or backyard.

When i got married we had a church wedding but had the reception at my wife's home. I helped her father renovate the basement and we had a bar setup upstairs. we did a lot of home made food and I hooked up a pretty elaborate stereo system. We had about 50 people and everyone that was there said it was the best wedding they ever went to.

In an era where people put more thought into their wedding then their marriage I'm glad that you're exploring values. Living in the New York area being to both Long Island Connecticut and Manhattan weddings that began at six figure prices I can tell you assuredly that eloping or a very small affair is the best way to go.

They are equally valid. For a young bride's first marriage a large wedding is best. For a an older bride's second marriage a courthouse wedding is susficient.
