Anyone who hopes/assumes that someone else is going to change for them in a way they find positive is an IDIOT. Most people don't change, and in the rare times they do change, it's usually not in a way the other person considers a positive direction.

What you do from here is up to you - in my opinion it's kind of a disaster either way - but this was 100% your own fault and you need to take some personal accountability. It seems she was always clear about the nature of the relationship, and YOU are the one who hoped you could change it into something else.

When seeking a partner, your job is to find someone who is ALREADY acceptable to you, not to find someone who isn't and hope that you can change them. That's 100% setting yourself up to fail, every time.
