My close friend didn’t acknowledge I got married, what to do?

Hey,

Just to give you some context, my husband and I recently eloped—it was a quick decision just for the two of us, as we needed to get married for visa reasons. We dressed up, went to the registry office, and had a photographer with us for the day.

Before we got engaged, I had told my best friend that we would have to do the legal ceremony quickly, but that we were still open to celebrating later, maybe in a few years.

I shared the news on social media with some of our wedding photos, but my friend hasn’t acknowledged it at all for several days. So this morning, I asked if she’d seen the photos, and she left me on read. I followed up with, “Are you not supportive?” and she replied almost immediately with a “Congratulations,” but it felt pretty insincere.

I’m feeling confused, hurt, and let down by her response, especially since even people I’m not close with have reached out to congratulate us.

I really don’t understand why she’s acting this way, especially since I’ve always supported her through everything. I’m wondering if it’s jealousy or just a lack of effort on her part, since she’s currently single.

Would love to hear your thoughts! :)
