7 moI don’t understand marriages that aren’t with your best friend. Now everyone’s different and seeks different things in a marriage so I’m not knocking other people. My point of view…
I couldn’t see myself marrying someone who isn’t my best friend. Many marriages in best cases are transactional in worst cases it’s a one sided hell hole with one person giving their all and another… just a useless vessel a useless eater and consumer. Until you’re completely drained. A transactional relationship is okay as long as both persons are honest with one another.
A real marriage is built on equal work. I don’t care what roles you decide to take on even a traditional relationship (done right) is both persons working equally as hard in separate roles. Not a man working 70+ hours a week to come home to a lazy nagging ungrateful woman who refuses to lift a finger either getting a job or around the house. It’s also not borh people working 40-70 plus hour jobs. For the woman to do all the housework and childcare.
I digress on that issue. Yes. It should be built on a genuine companionship. I just couldn’t imagine going to bed and waking up with someone who I don’t share that kind of bond with. Someone I can tell anything to and who can do the same. Someone who you can laugh and cry together… be vulnerable and being vulnerable isn’t just crying. It’s being your true authentic self. The person you are when you’re alone. I couldn’t imagine not being able to be myself inside my own home… that sounds miserable. But it’s the reality for MILLIONS of men and women out there. Who have to constantly play a act until they break completely.
Sure. To the world I can put on a face. I want someone whose my support and I’m hers. Behind the scenes. We are one… we aren’t one another’s adversary but companions. On the same team….
I know relationships aren’t perfect. But I genuinely can’t imagine…. I don’t ever want to live miserable in a miserable marriage. I’ve seen so many people suffer…. And get divorced. Get cheated and used… and I would rather be single. Yeah it would be great to have kids. It would be great to have someone. But it’s better to dwell in the wilderness rhen with the wrong person.20 Reply

Asker7 moI think if there was someone in my life I was gonna marry, he would be my priority and closer to me. That's only logical and he would also prefer it that way. Also, if he had a serious relationship I would prefer him to prioritize her. But the truth, there is no one so far

Yes for sure priority is key... and ah the distance always hurts In Different ways
But at the same time there is something to be learnt and felt through distance that most people don't even experience if they lived right next door to each other and that is two energy becoming one with each other and until they experience that there is really no reason to be in a relationship and I have to say that you have a very beautiful heart for saying that about him being with someone else
No. Friendship... I lost such a good one.
I would never do it again.
Boyfriends may change but a real good friend is so much better. You can share thoughts and also sorrows at 3am...00 Reply
7 moAbsolutely, if your best friend shares your values, respects your boundaries, and makes life feel lighter, marrying them makes sense.
Friendship is the foundation, love is the bonus.00 Reply

7 moI think your partner should be your best friend. They can start out as solely your romantic interest, but the aim should always be to have that best friend and partner in crime you can sail through life with. Someone you can lean on for support, someone who can laugh with you, cry with you, be excited with you, etc. Someone you can tell anything and everything to. Someone you can truly be yourself around, and vice-versa.

u 7 moMy best friend is a dude! No Way!
10 Reply I wouldn't marry anyone I'm not in love with. I won't date anyone who isn't a friend either. I don't even consider dating anyone before they become a friend. If she doesn't like the same things, then we're not friends, and I won't ask her out. My fiancée likes a lot of the same things I do. There are some differences, but we don't need to align on everything, just enough that we always have things we enjoy doing.
My girlfriend is not into video games, anime, or football (although I prefer college). Yet we like several TV shows, baseball, bowling, and several other things we can do around here. I try to ensure that I do things that she doesn't like when she's not here and do things that she likes when she is.00 Reply
7 moI will say what this really means in practice.
For women: "Are you willing to marry the beta male you kept in the friend-zone after you hit the wall and Chad no longer wants anything to do with you?"
For men: "Are you willing to be a consolation prize for a woman who has ridden the cock carousel and is only with you because the guys she's actually attracted to one wanted her for sex?"

Asker7 moThat's how superficial men are... You could not be more wrong. Not everyone like you looks at the opposite sex with lust. We have been friends since we were kids and that's why I never looked at him romantically but for a fact I know any girl would be happy to be with him. So, choosing him wouldn't be a hittint the wall case. I'm sorry to hear that you never had a female friend who loved you as who you are as a human being instead of seeing you as a beta man

Friendships with women are a waste of time for men.
God i wish I was gay enough to. I would have been so much happier. he's just got no tits. Way to much dick. And Hairy everything for me. he's half Asian. His pubes are straight and spiked. Its off putting. Other than that we are a perfect match on everything.. oh he likes the Mets and im a Phillies guy.

Asker7 moI and my best friend have known each other for 5 years. We are like people who know each other the best and feel safe the most with. But we have never ever had anything romantic. We have been dating different people but eventually we are both single now. My sister mentioned how it would be if I just married him. It freaked me out. Not because he is bad but because I never looked at him that way but logically, I know we get along well perfectly. But no romance, that's why I wondered
- 7 mo
Just because you "never thought of him that way" shouldn't mean that you will never "think of him that way." People develop feelings for each other under many different circumstances. If you've never dated each other, even though you're best friends and know each other well, why not try going out on a date some night? Try to make it something special! And maybe dress up and look your best (so should he). There could be a spark of something!
Asker7 moI think I'm just afraid of ruining what we have
- 7 mo
Ruin it? You just might make it the best thing that ever happened to both of you!
Asker7 moWhat if it doesn't work out as I imagine?
