I studied abroad for a couple of weeks in Greece and then a few days Istanbul a few years ago. Turkish people were really nice, and I have to say, the Turkish women were much more attractive than the Greek women :)
The lack of alcohol kinda sucked though. I was having severe Greek wine withdrawals haha
They often wander to the American version of GaG, uninvited! Why? To solicit opinions as if we spend more than 2 seconds of our day thinking about Turkish people.
It doesn't end! I somehow doubt Americans are going to the Turkish site asking about what y'all think about us. For crap sake.
I love turkey especially marmaris for partying then icmela for the quiet. turks r very forward and slimey they take anyone home with them especially English woman as they think the country is rich! Its a shame coz there's so many good looking guys there but only ever seem to be after money! Dont take offence im just giving my opinion.
The country is one of most beautiful and interesting on the planet. It would be absolutely perfect, if it was Christian and the locals didn't scam tourists. Though I'd only want it to be Christian if I had to live there. The Muslims didn't really bother me, as they aren't that backwards over there, except in Kurdish region.
The scammers is the big thing that completely ruined what otherwise would have been a perfect holiday destination. Turkish people complain about how so much of the world hates them, but they wouldn't hate them if they didn't scam tourists. I also found a lot of Turkish people, especially on THIS website, to be extremely racist and nationalistic.
The girls are beautiful though, just a bit hard to talk to if you're a foreigner.
Depends, I don’t think I like everyone of any nation. But the majority I think I’d probably like, since I assume they are just normal people trying to get by like the rest of us. That being said I really don’t know that I’ve ever met someone from Turkey

They really hate us. Im arab, I've been to turkey and came back with an even lesser opinion of them. They also think highly of themselves when barely anyone else cares, and they hate many other groups of people, even in roads cars wouldn't care if they ran you over, in my country people are much nicer. I dont mind being friends with a turk but this is usually the case with them
Yeah, especially because of how the Syrian refugees behave. But in general they say they hate Arabs, because they have no interest in their food and culture. But I think another reason they hate them, is because they can't scam them.
I have to agree with you. My impression of Turkish people keeps shifting. I really started to hate them, after seeing how hateful the ones on THIS website are. But than I thought, "Eh, it's just a few trolls", and my view of them started to shift again. And I respected them for their secularism.
My mom and I went to Turkey for two weeks, and I also thought it would change her impression of them and Muslim people in general, but it only made us dislike them more. LOL There was one pervert vendor who kept hitting on her, and on every turn people were scamming us and charging 3 to 6 times the actual prices for food and goods. THIS is the thing that really made me dislike them. It completely ruined what otherwise would be an incredible country. But when you call them out on it they say, "It's not us, it's KURDS!" And that boils down to that mindset that YOU mentioned. The good things about their country they take credit for, but the BAD things they blame on Kurds and Arabs. Maybe they ARE scammers, but it's not like Turks are innocent either, and regardless of what their ethnicity is, it's happening in THEIR country. If they really cared about tourism and their reputation, they would deal with these issues. I agree that Turks are extremely self centered and have an inferiority complex. They think so highly of themselves, when their society has many problems. Then they pretend like they don't understand why so many people hate them. And ALWAYS play the victim.
It's the same thing in India and Egypt. The people from the shittiest countries always think so highly of themselves.
Of course not ALL Turkish people are like this, but enough of them are. I have one Turkish friend as well. The girls are extremely difficult to befriend if you're a foreigner. And one thing I've noticed not only with Turks, but with ALL Muslim people, they will get along with you until you start criticizing their religion and history. I'm not surprised the EU doesn't want them.
Maybe only Iranian people are different.
It's so laughable how they act like good Muslims, but scam tourists. That's why you'll never get mugged in Turkey, they will rob you another way. But a lot of young Turks are getting smart and leaving Islam.
Americans don't like Turks either.😁kidding aside we don't like your government, Biden hates Turks. The old population does not like America, the young and middle population loves it, even I like America very much.
@mynameisiremm Geee, I wonder why. I know, I was surprised he hates them, but that's one of the few things I support him on, as I don't like Edorgan.
That sounds right. That's how it is in most places. Turkish relations were much stronger before Edorgan. I don't think they should be in NATO. I don't trust Edorgan. I think he's two faced, but I still trust Turks more than I trust Kurds.
But from a tourism perspective, everything would be fine if they didn't scam me on every turn.
I think I speak for a lot of people on this version of GAG when I say I am sick and tired of the endless, banal, inane, repetitive, asinine questions about Turkey, it’s a backwards country, will never amount to a hill of beans and I’m sick of reading about it.
Beautiful country full of rich culture. Sadly, it has been so mistreated by the rest of Europe, particularly during the tragic Syrian tragedy with it expected to take on such a burden with little support.
Their food is amazing, there is like a flat bread with meat on it, I think it is called 'la megign' or similar
I love football, and one of my all time favourite players was Hakan Suker :)
they're friendly but i'm curious as to why Turkey is supporting somalia so much at the moment, training our soldiers? I don't know seems suspicious. it's unnerving to see that many turkish flags in pictures of mogadishu
Turkey has a fascinating history and language, and seems very beautiful from the pictures I've seen. I don't know many Turkish people personally, so I can't comment on that.
I have yet to try Turkish coffee, but I would like to!
Rugs, smoking, muslims, and old shotguns. Nope, if I was going to travel, Greece or Israel would be top on the list of were going outside the USA. Or maybe some Caribbean island.
I don't care for the country of Turkey. Their government hasn't apologized for the Armenian Genocide norcenturies of state-sponsored white slavery. Plus, in my mind, they're occupying the Roman city of Constantinople plus Roman Anatolia.
The nation of Turkey should be ruled by the Eastern Roman nation with the Hagia Sophia once again turned into a church, and I hope that this happens within my lifetime.
The world views Turkey as the Kingdom of Immortals, where the men are stout and hung. Western women worship them by hugging their giant flaccid genitalia.
I don’t know too much about them. I know a lot of Muslims live in Turkey and they have beautiful buildings and mosques. I also know they have nice desserts. I used to buy Turkish delights at a mall near my hone
I wish Putin would nuke it off of the map. I will never forget the Armenian Genocide nor 400 years of Ottoman oppression my Orthodox people suffered under the Turks.
@kemalim13 Apparently the Turkish school system neglected to teach you about the Armenian genocide of 1915, during which 1.5 to 1.7 million Armenian Christians were murdered by the Ottoman Turks. The event was documented extensively, but the Turks continue to deny that it happened. Strange, given that it was a crime against humanity that was committed by the Ottoman Empire, not the state that was created by Mustafa Kemal Ataturk in 1924. I am not offended , your comment you posted here made me angry because you didn't answer my question i dont want to learn if Turks can speak English ! LOL, you're mad at me because I can speak English? Sorry buddy, didn't mean to make you angry. 😄 But I said that cause that's the only perception I have of them, since I haven't met any in real life.

Where are you from? Syrian?
No saudi, im only 1/4 turkic though, from central asia kazakhstan. I've been mistaken for mexican but still look pretty saudi
Yeah, especially because of how the Syrian refugees behave. But in general they say they hate Arabs, because they have no interest in their food and culture. But I think another reason they hate them, is because they can't scam them.

@mynameisiremm ME? USA. From the last statistics I saw, 60% of your population hates us.
Americans don't like Turks either.😁kidding aside we don't like your government, Biden hates Turks. The old population does not like America, the young and middle population loves it, even I like America very much.

Believe me, most Turks don't like Erdogan...
@mynameisiremm I believe you. What's your opinion on the assholes who scam tourists though?
what they did wrong most Turks don't support what they do
@mynameisiremm Okay, thank you. I appreciate that. I wish things will change
It's hard when police is protecting them
I think I speak for a lot of people on this version of GAG when I say I am sick and tired of the endless, banal, inane, repetitive, asinine questions about Turkey, it’s a backwards country, will never amount to a hill of beans and I’m sick of reading about it.

only you did good review. thanks :)
May Allah always bless Turkiye :)
you made me happy :) thanks :)
they're friendly but i'm curious as to why Turkey is supporting somalia so much at the moment, training our soldiers? I don't know seems suspicious. it's unnerving to see that many turkish flags in pictures of mogadishu
You are thinking wrong
how? it's obvious turkey wants to exploit somalia as it rebuilds, i'm not complaining though. we need all the help we can get.
Turkey has a fascinating history and language, and seems very beautiful from the pictures I've seen. I don't know many Turkish people personally, so I can't comment on that.

I think you should travel to Turkey.I'm sure that you like Turkey :) For example;Istanbul, Antalya, Izmir are worth seeing places :)
Yes, Greece is well worth a visit, my friend! You are always welcome to my glorious countryx
Birthplace of Western Civilization, Greece. Not to mention Greek mythology...
I don't care for the country of Turkey. Their government hasn't apologized for the Armenian Genocide norcenturies of state-sponsored white slavery. Plus, in my mind, they're occupying the Roman city of Constantinople plus Roman Anatolia.

They are Gods.
I knew an man from there named Malik. A friend of my boyfriend's who was a sweet old man. He made very good grilled liver.
So I guess, the food is good.
They also converted the Hagia Sophia from a Greek Orthodox Cathedral to a mosque.
You know very little of our country :)
well... on here many of the men are not afraid to approach women, that's for sure lol. [to say the very least]
the country itself is beautiful from what iv seen on the media. i dont know many turkish people personally so i can't say.
I wish Putin would nuke it off of the map. I will never forget the Armenian Genocide nor 400 years of Ottoman oppression my Orthodox people suffered under the Turks.
we love armenian at ottoman time and we didn't kill them
unfortunately there are provocations
@kemalim13
