I want to share your thoughts.
Thank you!
Been there lots of times, mainly Marmarus, it's the cheapest holiday you can book, cheap there too, they have lots of great markets and nice town centers, you have to be careful about being roped into every shop and restaurant though, they always have someone standing outside asking you to go in even after you've ate lol, don't buy sun glasses or shoes there though because they won't last long (unless you can get ones with metal hinges, don't buy the plastic ones they are cheap crap).
They have the best burger kings, jewelry shops and resturants, completely wonderful, don't go for the big trasitional feasts though because it will be too much for anyone to handle, you will end up buying it then stopping after what you normall eat. it's only great for a party of 8 - 9 people. Also don't ever walk any where alone especially at night (don't let female friends or family go any where alone), because you get men walking around shirtless asking for sex... don't get too drunk ether because they will take advantage but id not go to the night clubs but stick to the cheaper karroke bars, night clubs charge a fortune just for getting in, then it's £6 - £8 a drink... Hold hands at ALL TIMES with younger females in your family too when walking around any where DO NOT LET THEM OUT OFYOUR SIGHT 1 SECOND, there are bad bad men that go around trying to take younger little girls and teenagers (it almost happened to me too, they were following me down the peer of Marmarus. amongst the big crowed of people until i took hold of my dads hand).
Finally check out the phaphos ruins they are beautiful (unless your willing to take a long long walk in the blazing heat), then make sure to have the right shoes, lots of sun cream and lots of water, also go for the boat rides they are incredibly fun and relaxing and you get to tour some of the caves. If there is 1 restaurant i could reccomend it would be Rose Restaurant, but the 2nd best is the Italian resturants.
Every country has the worst thing in the good of
You wrote a very long Thanks :) <3
Indeed every where has it's bad points like Greece, they don't do legal jobs there, i have a friend who lives in Italy and he told me what happens there, but it's also really beautiful and lots of history, me and my family love Turkey, we haven't been for a long time but we will be coming in July :).
Let friends to come to Istanbul :))))
The best holidays I'll be in college :)
I wonder what people think...
Turkish guys mainly like Germanic and Slavic girls. Long legs, blonde hair, tall but not taller than them. They're not the best looking in general. There are ones that look like monkeys, average guys and a few really handsome ones.
Most Turkish girls falsely believe Italian men are the best in the world. They're not like Turkish guys, most prefer brunettes over blondes. Since you can't date freely in Turkey except for some places like Izmir or better parts of Istanbul (living in the same house, kissing in public, extramarital sex and kids) Turkish girls outside of the homeland tend to be very excited about dating foreign men. Our looks vary. I have many beautiful friends, both light and dark skinned. I once had a crush on a girl called Dilek, she was of Bulgarian descent. She had dark blonde hair, pale skin and hazel eyes. Though, I've seen horribly ugly girls. I had that one friend in school. She was just like your ugly, fat guy with a vagina and long hair.
For lesbians and gays, you don't want to date them. Very few of us Turkish LGBT are out of the closet and sometimes it can be dangerous.
Some are nice, some are loud and obnoxious. But there's one thing I've observed from all turkish people I've known or have talked to: when they've made up my mind about something, they're 100% sure about it and would not waver or even consider the possibility that the other person is (also) right.
I have been friends with some, but there are also some I just can't stand. Usually it's the teenagers or the older people I can't stand. People around my age are mostly fine, no longer loud and obnoxious (like the teens) or close-minded like the older generations.
Turkish people are really nice. I really loved going to Turkey, the atmosphere was wonderful. Daph81 said that they are closeminded; not really. Some are, but then again, many Europeans and Americans are as well.
One word of advice: don't judge all by one person, or ten people, or thousands of people, even. Would you judge America like that? They are all different, like any other country, so there is nothing you can really say as a whole.
I've heard nothing but bad things about turkey and it's people. So no, I wouldn't like to go there.
I'm from Canada.
Hi, I am so curious what bad things did you hear about Turkey? The reason I am asking this because whenever I start a conversation with a girl on a dating site, as soon as she knows I am Turkish, conversation stops right there. This happens to me many times :) I live in Canada too and I think people know only little about it and it is mostly biased.
Actually, the people are really nice. If you think about it, you shouldn't judge the things that turkey has done because so many countries have done the same.
I was in and around Istanbul, so ymmv.
- awesome culture (Byzantine, Greek, Roman...)
- awesome food
- awesome service sector (getting a steak at midnight in some high-rise complex)
- great shopping for e. g. leather goods
- horrible traffic/parking
- horrible public transport
- silly scams against tourists (menu cards without prices!)
- awful president/police state
My advice: Have a Turkish speaking friend with you for translation/guidance. Will keep all the scammers and crooks away.
Since @Agape93 felt it was necessary to delete my correction of her mistake, I have to write it again here: Turkey is not a tropical country, it is not a subtropical country, it has regular Mediterranean weather (hot summers, cold winters). There is a reason the Turkish seaside towns are so popular as vacation destinations, they have the perfect summer weather.
I honestly don't think much about Turkey. I always find it really interesting how many Turkish people on GAG ask "What do you think about Turkey?" as the first thing haha.
From what I've gathered on Turkish people, I tend to find they are nice but speak really broken English... so when they come on the English GAG it makes it tough to communicate with them lol
Türk girl How?
I'm confused. "How" what?
How Turkish Girls? Is IT beatiful? ıs IT ugly?
I do not know I am writing from English translation
Ahh I believe you are trying to say, "How are Turkish girls? Are they beautiful? Are they ugly?"
From what I've seen, Turkish girls tend to be generally pretty. It is tough to say on the whole though since looks are different person to person.
I understand the translation is changing with another word
Probably. I don't know what you are meaning then. 😅
do you know Turkish
Nope. I do not know any Turkish.
@kemalim13 Thank you good sir for the translation
Please dont ask about turkish people. We all know they are good people and if you keep asking these questions they will think about bad things about turkish people. Thanks!

I'm wondering why exactly the Turks are the ones asking about other's thoughts on Turkey or the Turkish people.
Some Turks once visited my school a few years ago and they brought quite a lot of all sorts of nuts with them...\
are nuts some national food in Turkey?
It's widely cultivated in The Black Sea
The Black Sea Region, cities in that area
Well from what I remember they came from Istanbul.
By the way do you call it Constantinople?
Not anymore 😊 It's globally called "Istanbul"
Yet another daily dose of Turkey related questions on GAG. When will it ever stop?
i like turkish delight and baklava !

a friend took me to a nice turkish restaurant a few months ago. i liked everything especially the salads !
Turkey (Listeni/ˈtɜːrki/; Turkish: Türkiye [ˈtyɾcije]), officially the Republic of Turkey (Turkish: About this sound Türkiye Cumhuriyeti (help·info); pronounced [ˈtyɾcije d͡ʒumˈhuɾijeti]), is a parliamentary republic in Eurasia, largely located in Western Asia, with the smaller portion of Eastern Thrace in Southeast Europe. Turkey is bordered by eight countries: Syria and Iraq to the south; Iran, Armenia, and the Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan to the east; Georgia to the northeast; Bulgaria to the northwest; and Greece to the west. The Black Sea is to the north, the Mediterranean Sea to the south, and the Aegean Sea to the west. The Bosphorus, the Sea of Marmara, and the Dardanelles (which together form the Turkish Straits) demarcate the boundary between Thrace and Anatolia; they also separate Europe and Asia.[5] Turkey's location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia makes it a country of significant geostrategic importance.[6]
Turkey has been inhabited since the paleolithic age,[7] including various ancient Anatolian civilizations, Aeolian, Dorian and Ionian Greeks, Thracians, Armenians, and Assyrians.[8][9][10] After Alexander the Great's conquest, the area was Hellenized, a process which continued under the Roman Empire and its transition into the Byzantine Empire.[9][11] The Seljuk Turks began migrating into the area in the 11th century, starting the process of Turkification, which was greatly accelerated by the Seljuk victory over the Byzantines at the Battle of Manzikert in 1071.[12] The Seljuk Sultanate of Rûm ruled Anatolia until the Mongol invasion in 1243, upon which it disintegrated into several small Turkish beyliks.[13]
Starting from the late 13th century, the Ottomans united Anatolia and created an empire encompassing much of Southeastern Europe, Western Asia and North Africa, becoming a major power in Eurasia and Africa during the early modern period. The empire reached the peak of its power between the 15th and 17th centuries, especially during the 1520–66 reign of Suleiman the Magnificent. After the second Ottoman siege of Vienna in 1683 and the end of the Great Turkish War in 1699, the Ottoman Empire entered a long period of decline. The Tanzimat reforms of the 19th century, which aimed to modernize the Ottoman state, proved to be inadequate in most fields, and failed to stop the dissolution of the empire.[14] The Ottoman Empire entered World War I (1914–18) on the side of the Central Powers and was ultimately defeated. In the times of Ottoman Empire the Turks was an big threat to Europe, because they had attacked and conquer parts of Europe many time. In modern days the Turks are actually much more civil in comparison to most other muslims, just look at the differences.

The Turks I've ever met were some of the most pleasant, polite people I've ever met in my life. They were also unusually generous. One woman I know once took a gold bracelet off her wrist and gave it to someone just because they complimented her on it. They are generous with time and their efforts, I can't say enough good things about those I've met from Turkey. Now, the country itself - questionable. There are some things going on there that I don't like, but it's amazing how the best people can come from countries that have so much corruption.
I live the Netherlands, many Turkish people here. My experience with them is that they are friendly, open, warm and kind. Religion is important to them, and from my experience they seem to take a person more seriously if they identify with a religion of any kind (Christianity being looked upon most favourably outside of Islam), they like people with high moral standards. Treat them well and they treat you well. If you make a Turkish friend, you'll make a friend for life.
There's good and bad in every nationality. I think in friendships and social gatherings we'd do well to remember that and don't disregard someone because of a few rotten apples we've come across.
I visited Turkey twice before the Covid-19 pandemic.
The first time, I went to Izmir and went to the ancient city of Ephesus. I was very impressed by the architecture and the history of that city.
The second time I visited Turkey, I took a cruise on the Black Sea, starting in Istanbul, going to Sinop and Trabzon.
I did like Istanbul very much because of the association I have with the ancient Ottoman empire. I particularly like the Topkapi Palace, Dolmabahçe Palace, the covered bazaar, the spice bazaar and of course Hagia Sopia.
All in all, 2 very positive experiences. Next, I would like to visit Pamukkale and the Troglodyte housings in Cappadocia.
I'm thankful that the spread of the Ottoman Empire into Europe went no further than it did, and saddened that it actually DID go as far as it did. I'm also thankful that the Ottoman Empire was defeated in World War I, and that Ataturk had a vision for a modern, secular Turkish state. I'm saddened that under Erdogan Turkey seems to be regressing into Islamism and authoritarian and repressive rule.
The rest of us just from Ottoman Turkey
No one else’s opinions of them should matter at the end of the day you have to make your own judgement and I say this because I had a friend he is Lebanese Muslim his parents were born and grew up in Lebanon before they moved here many people hate them and they heavily often criticise their belief but the truth is he was nothing like the typical Muslim you would meet or hear about he loved bacon muslims aren’t allowed to eat bacon but he didn’t care he ate bacon he still does he never wanted to marry a Muslim so he had a kid out of wedlock and he broke up with the mother of the child he doesn’t even speak Arabic he speaks English yet the amount of negative things he would hear people say to him it did hurt him because he was nothing like your typical Muslim
Typical muslim?
"What do you think about turkey? You like turkish man? you like turkish woman? you like turkish food? you like Kemal? what do you like turkish?"
www.wolfgnards.com/.../Sloth-Fratelli-490x312.jpg
What?
I think there are good Turkish people and there are not so good Turkish people just like any other country in the world. People vary no matter what country they come from. My personal experience with Turkish people has been really good however, I meet a lovely Turkish girl in one of my classes at university.
A lot of them seem cool to me. He'll, any peoples that invent something like baklava are A-okay in my book!
www.greek-islands.us/.../baklava-recipe.jpg
Did you eat Baklava? :D
:) Yep
I only know one guy who is of Turkish descent. He works at my department and he is a good officer. We're not on the same shift, but our shifts overlap for an hour (I work days, he works nights). He's a good guy. I don't know him super well. I know he was born in the US but his parents came over from Turkey. Apparently he visits often. From what he's told me of Turkey and its culture it sounds very nice and I would absolutely be down to visit.
Yes. I've chatted with a few Turks, enjoyed their food, and watched some of their media.
While their culture is utterly different from mine, the Turks do tend to be pleasant company. And there are lots of things to learn!
Too bad there aren't that many in my part (s) of the world…
I don't have any opinion on them, I've only met one that I know of, he seemed like a good dude. Im more curious as to why this question gets asked so frequently on here, about how people feel about Turks specifically. Just seems kind of random to me, why are the Turks so concerned? All good, whatever👍
Well the Ottoman Empire was on the verge of collapse for a long time... a vast colonial power at its peak though, before the other European fat cats started playing puppet masters with her. The Turks have a very rich history and culture - beautiful country.
Ottoman rule was but 3 continents
nope their culture is just a mixing pot of other cultures like Greek, Roman, Persian, Arabic right?
Lol @apexalpha I'm not a fan of world empires don't worry - I don't see it as something to be proud of.
good girl
Why..
Now days its all about the Turkish diner kebab and fish and chips empire @OpinionOwner
600 years of Ottoman rule was over 3 continents. She is a true miracle.
@apexalpha The Indian takeaway empire marmalizes both of those where I come from...
That's true haha but we Chinese don't have hard feelings against them anymore. them japs are worse!
yaya spring rolls from south China! I like steamed fish the best X)
Turkey and Islam !!
I order you some quorn @OpinionOwner
@apexalpha cheers :) *shoves it in with the noodles*
I do not invest a lot of time thinking about Turkey.
It is Islamic, therefore not part of Europe.
President Erdogan is a supporter of Islamic terrorism, in that his family smuggles in and sells oil that has been stolen by ISIL and the Turkish military has been used to provide fire support to ISIL during clashes with the Kurds.
