Do guys really not know girls like jewelry?

So it was my birthday a while back, my boyfriend was so stumped as to what to get me he kept telling me everything he was thinking of and ruining the surprise. So I gave him my friends number so she could help him. As she suggested he got me this dress I've been wanting and kept saying he wanted to get me something else too, a second present. My other friend suggested he get me a necklace, and he said no. So in the end I didn't get a second present. No biggie, I love the dress.
Then the other night I commented on his friends necklace. And he was almost surprised. He asked if I would wear something like that.
Do guys really not know girls like jewelry, even if we don't wear it all the time it's still nice to have and look at. It doesn't have to be expensive either, it could be something from target that matches a dress we have (as example)
It sparked a debate between him and me, he didn't think I liked jewelry, even though I do wear it sometimes. I said all girls like it even if they don't wear it right away, they like the thought of it and that you tried to find jewelry you thought would suit them and their style. It's almost a show of how much you know them

Generally speaking, yeah, we do realize that women like jewelry.

That said, I think women gotta understand that for us men (and again, I'm speaking in general terms here, painting with a VERY broad brush), it's usually TERRIFYING for us to try and pick out something that you'll actually like. Add to that the fact that some women or too nice (or some men too are too sensitive to hear it, so the woman spares his feelings) are be honest when they receive something they don't like.

Simply put, the odds of it being a total success are pretty slim.

Beyond that, I'd rather give a woman a gift that's more meaningful to us and our relationship rather than a physical decoration. I mean, she's a PERSON...not a Christmas tree. Haha!

Jewelry is so useless. I wonder if I'd ever think of something with such a low utility. I like buying presents that can be used for something beneficial. For example, I bought my gf two waist warmer belly bands (whichever it is called). If I buy something that is less useful, it usually has a secondary meaning. A jewelry product just means, "look at this shiny thingy, it's pretty and that's it".

So I probably won't be buying jewelry. Although I think there's a secondary notion of "people assume jewelry is inherently feminine and it's a cop out to buy jewelry, instead of buying something the person actually wants" in my negative stance towards jewelry.

Actually, I don't think I'd want to get jewelry from a guy becasue first off it's expansive and secondly its a more personal decisions because sometimes I get jewelry that I would never ever wear. So if my guy had to buy me jewelry he'd definitely have to know my likes and dislikes.

I'm actually not a big jewellery fan. Don't get me wrong, I think it looks good, I just don't wear it often and REALLY don't like getting jewellery as a gift. It's so impersonal to me.

LOL. I would never expect a man to buy me jewelry. He's probably pick something atrocious with fucking hearts all over it. I'd rather he buy me a rare edition of a book. Or a full hardcover series. Or come with me to pick out something we both like.

I mean as a go to gift. If they have no idea what to get you and they are completely stumped. Jewelry, flowers, lingerie, chocolate are the standard.
Ideally something more personal. But I keep lists all year long of cool presents for people so I don't really do standard either

Lol no probably not. I've gotten my fiancé a few pieces of jewelry and she never wears it so I don't buy it. She's not really a girly girl though. If she asked me for some though I'd totally get it for her!

Well as a girl I think every girl wants to be looks beautiful that jewelry make. So that wrong term that jewelry is useless. Yes there are different thinks and opinions of each girls but that doesn't make a sense that girls are not like jewelry. Apart from that you may give some simple jewelry as rings or bracelet or other things to your GF that are available in store as jewelrybytali.
