My ex girlfriend invited me to her birthday party... should I go?

We dated for 4 years and broke up 6 months ago. She broke up with me and I was devastated for a while and begged for her to come back for a while (which I now know looks pitiful) I stopped all that about 2 months ago because I was tired of being sad and decided to move on. We have remained "friends" but rarely talk to each other unless we see each other at a party (we have some mutual friends) or random texts here and there. So I was surprised that she invited me and I was wondering if I should go? She has a boyfriend now and I still have feelings for her, but I have no intentions what so ever of getting back together with her right now even if she did give me a chance. So what do you think her reason is for inviting me and should I go? If you think I should go should I give her a present?

It would probably be polite to attend shortly, exchange pleasantries, give her a gift, mingle, and if nothing of interest seems apparent to you, leave promptly. Women are crafty creatures, and they enjoy seeing men squirm. If you were together for four years, there is absolutely no way she can't still care about you in some form. She may just want you to be around, or she may want to play with your heart (only you can predict this based on her personality).

If you do go, do not allow yourself to show any signs of weakness or reaction to things like her new boyfriend, or any odd behavior she may demonstrate. Be friendly, but guarded against whatever she may pull. Even if you aren't over her, at least act like you are secure and at peace with where you are in life right now.

honestly If you dont' feel comfortable (I sense that you aren't) then don't go-I would feel awkward-I'll say "hapy birthday" and just not go-I mean for me unless I am cool with seeing them together and stuff then sure but if I want nothing to do with them, I'll just not show up-no shame in that-just do what feels comfortable-I'd just show up if I did go and I wouldn' t buy my ex boyfriend a present

Thanks... I don't think it will be that awkward unless she is all over him. I mean it's not like I expected her to never date again. Like I said I have feelings for her but don't want to get back together. Basically we were like best friends when we went out and I know we can't be best friends but I would like to be closer friends then what we are now.

Sweetie from my experience with guys since I am a girl I don't think it would be bad and yet again once I think about it if you have a girlfriend woooooo 'REDFLAG' NO WAY yo girlfriend would be p*ssed so I say no but if not honey be my guest go 4 it!

Well it depends. How would you feel seeing her with someone else if you were so brokenhearted not so long ago? It may reopen those wounds.
She probably invited you so that she could stay in touch with you or to simply make you jealous.

Well I have seen them together once before and although it wasn't the best feeling it didn't ruin my night and it really didn't bother me too much. I don't think she would want to make me jealous she's not that type of person but who knows

unless you are going to have mutual friends there at the party or you can go with another friend.. male or female.. you wouldn't want to look alone..all the best.. I know how you feel... its conflicted.

Yea its def conflicted but there will be mutual friends and if I go I will def go with my best friend. I'm just a little confused on what her intentions are because she says she wants to stay friends but we never really talk that much at all. Honestly I miss our friendship the most and would love for us to be better friends and talk more then once or twice a month
