I went to Target yesterday and they had no inventory. I drove through the town and every little strip mall had at least one vacant store. The local bar went out of business during covid but the building was sold and was under agreement. I noticed yesterday it is for sale again. You still cannot buy everything you need at the supermarket and I went to the sub shop on Saturday and the place was empty. I feel like something is going on and it;s not good.

And this climate emergency bullshit is part of the same agenda. Shipping has been deliberately choked so as to create shortages, higher costs, and further hardship.

It never ended here, some things have been hard to find for years... distilled water, crackers, are a couple examples.

Labor shortage is what they are blaming a lot on here, extremely low unemployment and some restaurants shut down over it. Those that stayed open, now have massive waiting lists to get in.

It isn't a lack of opportunities to start businesses, its a lack of workers.

A Wendy's shut down and the owner simply said, I got tired of spending 70 hours a week doing interviews, hiring people only to have them quit a week later... and he was paying 18 an hour.

I lost my job because of covid and I collected unemployment for 18 months. When the benefit ran out I couldn't get an extension so I had to find a new job. I don't know how people can pay their bills without a job.

I can find everything I want. Sometimes TJ's doesn't have supply, it's hit or miss. But not everything should always be available or in season imho.

There is a lot of open space and some places are ghost shopping centers. but then again, someone just built a new food eatery and some others opened. It was probably very hard to run a business through all that mess and inflation... have you noticed the inflation (shrinking) in carryout out chicken in dishes? people are burned out or out of $. Fresh business comes in... sometimes. I haven't thought more than 2 sec about starting a business, who'd want that headache and risk... but people do it.

As a result of bad policy, there is lower supply available. So price is way up and those with the best ability to do business will purchase the available supply.

@TrueConfection You don't need very many. A chicken lays an egg every day to every two days depending on the breed, their age, how they are fed, and the temperature. Just several chickens in a small chicken tractor in your backyard is generally enough for an average household's needs. It's not like you'd become a chicken farmer with hundreds of thousands to millions of chickens. Many people keep several as a hobby and to have fresh organic food right at home. With chicken feeders/waters you can even get away with filling up their feed and water once a week. but you should move the chicken tractor a few feet to fresh grass daily.
