I mean.. not that more than 5% of the store items had been selling for $1 since covid hit. People saved gas and stuck to target it seems.
Hahaha, maybe. Although one thing about dollar stores…. they aren’t great VALUE. You don’t save on unit cost, you probably pay more than you would at a regular store, but the trick is they sell small amounts at affordable price points. So like…if you buy tin foil there…. it’ll only cost a dollar, but even though you pay 4x more at a grocery store, you get much more foil-per-dollar than at the dollar store. So you don’t save money, necessarily, you just can get things you need for a lower total price at the time if you don’t have much to spend. But you’re losing in the end.
Except for greeting cards! Life hack: most people just tear open your card and pretend to be touched by it, but will trash it in the next garbage collection, so don’t pay Hallmark $7 for that, get cheap ones at the dollar store except for the truly special people who care about the presentation of it. Anything you just sign “love, Joey Jo-Jo Junior Shabadoo”, don’t waste your money.

There are oceans of dollar stores and some are better than others.
I shop at Dollar General all the time because of its tiny supermarket including produce yet I live over 10 miles away from an actual supermarket. The bigger chains like DG are just more effective.

I bought a dollar store broom once, and the shit snapped perfectly in half while my girlfriend was sweeping a week later and she cut herself. Maybe people are just catching on to the scam. They sell low quality items so you have to keep going back
Not necessarily... It could just mean they sell crap!
I would think it is just representative of how many dollar stores are out there now. Almost as many weed stores in Ontario.
If they combined the two, it would be the next big chain.
Problem is many of those businesses rent their stores if rent prices go up they struggle then wither and die
Smart businesses expand slowly, buying land as they do soare all dollar stores going out of business or just this company?
Was it badly run?99 cents only stores started selling merchandise for more than 99 cents. The stores near me started looking like a tornado went through the store. It was not a nice place to shop. I think that is what drove people away.
Of course not. It just means it was managed poorly.
I would never shop at a dollar store so I don't know lol that's energy I don't wanna bring back my mom always went there as a kid.
Dunno, but we are getting close... It's actually scary.
What are you talking about? Bidenomics is working great! I love paying more for everything because the government wants to print more money so they can give it to illegals and foreign governments.
I seen an article where dollar tree is buying those places out
