What should we gift my aunt for her birthday?

The flowers we ordered were terrible. Dad thinks we should order other flowers. I thought a scented candle. Dad says that’s not the best idea. I can’t afford really lovely body lotions or soaps, but I thought maybe a body shop scented scrub or wash and a washer or a good book might be nice from me. I have to ship it interstate.

What about a framed picture of family and a nice card? Or a mini collage of family photos your aunt can hang up in her house? You can go to places like Walmart and print your pictures from your phone for minimal cost. Then simply cut / glue the pictures onto a display board (cardboard would work well) adjusting it to the height / size you want, and place a frame around it.
You can detail it with paint pens, and little quotes too, to remind her of when / where / the day the pictures were taken like "Laughing with dad!" and have a cute picture of you and your dad.

Another great option would be anything hobby related, or anything she is interested in. Like if she is into knitting, maybe grab a couple rolls of nice quality yarn and print off some free patterns from online that she may like! Or if she is into art, get her an adult colouring book filled with intricate patterns and all different designs, and include pencil crayons or markers.

The book and a nice card would be lovely, or a book light since she enjoys reading. A detailed bookmark, a book shelf / stand could be beneficial to her too!

Hmm flowers could be hit or miss, and shipping them long distance might not work out anyway. I like the idea of a book plus something else. Since your aunt likes to read, a book is always a thoughtful gift.

As for the other item, I'd stay away from candles since they can get messy to ship. A Body Shop scrub would be nice, but shipping liquids can also cause leaks.

Here are some ideas I think would ship well and she'd enjoy:

- Soft throw blanket - cozy for reading
- Gift basket with snack foods from her area
- Fun magazine subscription
- Pretty journal or notebook
- Nice coffee table book about a topic she likes
- Gift card for her local bookstore or coffee shop

You could also include a nice card telling her you hoped she'd like the book and letting her know you were thinking of her. Those little thoughtful touches go a long way!
