BMW or TESLA for a GRADUATION GIFT?

A father bought his daughter a BMW to celebrate her graduation from college. When she saw the car, rather than be surprised, she told her father, "I don't want no BMW, I want a Tesla."

What do you think of the ungrateful daughter. Which car would you prefer?

Oh BMW Every day of the week, and twice on Sundays! Don’t get me wrong, I think Tesla's are fantastic cars, but BMW is so over engineered, and well made, with techs using feeler gauges to verify the body gaps are all perfect, and all the same! They are also so much more prestigious than a Tesla. Besides, a BMW SUV is a combination of art, and engineering. The Cyber Truck, is very quickly getting the nickname “The Rape-Rhomboid” and the "Pedo-Rhomboid” (for Brits reading this, Paedo-Rhomboid)!

I’m not driving an unimaginative rhombus on wheels period, let alone one with such a gross, yet oddly apropos nickname! It’s a choice between class and crass. I’m fully aware of the superior torque, and acceleration of electric cars, and I know people with Tesla's, and I’ve driven several, although I’ve never driven a “Cyber Truck”. I’m also aware that they are bullet proof, but my dad’s vehicle was converted to bullet proof for $50,000. The Cyber Trucks are being bought by scalpers, and sold on the secondary market for between $100,000 and $200,000. There are so many doing this, that the waiting list is really long, and I believe they’ve already sold out of 2024 model year trucks! So it’d be cheaper quicker, and easier to just up-convert an actually nice BMW.

Well I would have been happy with a bmw, they're beautiful cars! I think she should have been grateful for whatever she got even if it was a used Chevy or something.

Honestly if the daughter said they wanted a Tesla and instead of the parent explaining why they couldn’t & revealing ‘not happening’ then selecting the BMW. Once she saw the vehicle she was disappointed thinking she was going to get one, clueless parenting at that point.

My understanding is, the father should’ve asked why a Tesla and not a BMW to see things her way with compassion and understanding. Maybe it was carbon neutral / green transportation not fossil fuel guzzlers… In that case, not really selfish/ungrateful.

If she was all about the rich lifestyle / rubbing it in people’s faces / showing off then she is a spoiled ungrateful idiot. Just sayin’, depends on the circumstance.

I would take the BMW back from the daughter and give her a scale model of a Tesla. Then perhaps take another run at a graduation gift six months down the road. . . but she is never getting a Tesla, or any other car, from me. Never again.

There is some context missing here. A BMW covers a large number of models.
Assuming her father bought her an i4, then you would have to assume she was not really clued up on cars and went for the poor option.

Equally her father bought her an i5, then she might be trying to save her father some money.
