I’m picking a birthday gift for my boyfriend and he plays quite a lot on steam. I think he did mention that he doesn’t like the weight and size of the steam deck but I’m not too sure. I’m leaning towards rog ally x right now but it’s pretty expensive and I’m not sure if it’s worth it? I know he wants to play the wukong game but I don’t know which one would work better 😣
I say Steam deck. I have a steam deck, and it's amazing. I think both weigh a bit so I don't think that's a side either would make better, however if that's a major concern and honestly something I'm getting is the gaming pillow thing that just came out. It holds your deck for you in a comfortable way. To me the importance difference between the 2 is customer service and the way it's built. Many people have had issues with Asus repairing service if you ever need it, while steam's is way more reliable.
The Asus does perform better, however the difference really ain't a concern unless you really are just focused on that. You aren't going to find issues running steam games on a steam deck. Steam also has a much better interface if of course your wanting to play steam games.
I went and got 1TB OLED Steam deck and I play it every day. The only issue I find is sometimes it freezes when playing a non-steam game after a couple hours. This is an issue however with how quick the start up and getting back onto the game it's a minor hassle. This could also just be a me issue.
In the end both are worth the cost but I would suggest steam just because I think as a company they are way more reliable and trustworthy. Though both are great and no doubt if I had the money I would also get the Asus just for that better performance to see how real of a difference it makes.
Ps Best girlfriend ever that your doing this for him.
