Consumers have some responsibility as well in shaping what will be offered. And it's disturbing to me that people are so easily manipulated. I didn't even have to have a bad experience or anything just seing their ads and what they were offering was enough to decide that I'd never buy anything from them. It just came out that their clothes have toxic substances in them who's surprised by that. But it's not the fact that their products are shit that concerns me the most, it's the fact that their sales went up by 700% in one year. As long as it's cheap and you market it enough we'll buy anything that's the message you're sending to these companies. You're supporting a race to the bottom it's bad for consumers, for other legit businesses who want to offer quality, for the workforce of course, and just for society in general as well because it's about what is being valued.
Getting some high from shopping is already very problematic but going to a place like this to "feel like a millionaire" is even more sad.
I'm not saying it's not a bigger issue with greedy companies and a general decline but I've rarely bought a product that was not fit for purpose or quickly broke or something like that. It's very possible to get what you need and get good products. I just think consumers need to do better.
