What are some things you only buy the "best" of?

For me, when I was in college, I basically bought off brands of most things. I remember I would buy a gallon of laundry soap for like $3 at the local convenience store lol. It wouldn't even lather! That's when I told myself, when I start making money, I'm gonna buy the best laundry detergent money can buy! I will buy certain store brand items, like bread, milk, butter, eggs, but some things I don't skimp on. Appliance's, electronics, clothes, among other things. I know my boyfriend doesn't skimp on tools he needs, which are RIDICULOUSLY expensive! What are things you only buy the best of?

Meats! I grew up eating round steak and chuck steak! That shit was like leather. I'll pay the extra money for porterhouse or a good T-bone. Also vehicles.

Same here! I honestly don't think my parents knew the difference between cuts, they just knew the difference in price!

Kitchen stuff, because then I only have to ever buy it once. The last things were a Breville toaster-oven and a Zojirushi rice maker.

Yes, I don't skimp on any kitchen appliances, I do buy cheap pots and pans though but do wanna get better ones.

That's a waste of money. You don't have to buy the absolutely most expensive, but if you are reasonably careful, Calphalon, All-Clad, Le Creuset, and similar brands will last a lifetime.

It's the same with cutlery. I like Henckels and Wusthof. Use a steel before each use, and have them honed occasionally.

well, for almost all things... I get the best there is for me, which is not always the most expensive, and sometimes... the best quality is different from the most expensive brand name

TOOLS are definitely something I do get the very best I can get, because I've been working and renovating my place for five years, lmao... and the one and only time I used a hammer from those "gift boxes" tool kits , the damned head came off after one week of use or something like that... better safe than sorry, lol

the one thing I will never look at the tag price is food... fresh, healthy, tasty... the best, I cook at home a lot, so I only get the best ingredients I can get, health is a priority

I remember a friend was remodeling his kitchen and bought some type of cheap saw for putting a wood floor in and cheap blades for it. It turned into a nightmare according to his wife lol The he had to keep taking the saw back for another one because it wouldn't last longer than a couple days and I guess the blades would warp after a while and wouldn't make straight cuts!

Most other things, I don't really care. I'll buy a combination of brand name & off brand of whatever I'm buying. Sometimes I'll buy off brand of a product one time, and then brand name the next time.

However, I can not, and will not, settle for inferior little breakfast circles, darn it! I need that classic yellow box, and those brand name little whole grain O's of deliciousness.

Funny you thought of bed sheets, I stopped buying cheaper mattresses and can really tell the difference but I've never bought better quality sheets and have been thinking about it! Thanks for the reminder.

You're welcome! I bought a top-of-the-line bed years ago. My friends made fun of me over the price tag, but I have no regrets. Sheets are second. Just think how much time you spend in your bed over the coarse of a year. A good night's sleep is invaluable.

Definitely! I used to wake up kind of sore and just not feeling I had a good night's sleep. Someone told me it's probably because I have a cheap mattress. I couldn't believe the difference! Expensive, YES but like you say, worth every penny.
