Is Home Depot the stupidest store in the world?

Home Depot spends millions of dollars advertising how helpful they are, anything you need, we're here to help, blah, blah, blah, practically begging you to shop there.

I'm trying to order a small appliance for $900.

They won't bring it into the house, I have to hire someone to do that.

They won't take the old appliance away, even if I pay them.

They won't let me choose a delivery date, they only have a date when I won't be home.

They have zero flexibility on any of these issues.

It's like they don't want to sell me something.

I know $900 is probably not a lot of money to them, but don't they want me to come back next year and buy something for $9,000? Now I never will.

I ended up hiring a guy to go to Lowes to get me the item and do all the rest. It ended up costing me less than the Home Depot option.

Home Depot generally has better prices than Lowes on almost everything in the store. It's more of a store for base materials for contractors doing work. Home Depot also employs competent people that know different fields of construction who are generally retired and can typically answer questions if you have them. Lowes has more "design" options (i. e. tile variety, flooring colors, appliance options, counter top options, lighting options, etc.) but generally charges more for everything even when you have a 10% military/veteran discount. They are pretty good about installing things like granite counter tops and appliances in a reasonable time frame if you need that, but again it typically costs a little bit more than your other options. If you are rehabbing a place and need counter tops in like a week or two, Lowes will probably do a good job in like 10 days when the cheaper companies are back logged for 2 months or whatever.

Lowes does all of that. It's been a while since I ordered through that process in a Home Depot.
Both stores are good and bad.
Both stores hire horrible repair companies and install companies. I have nightmare versions with both, multi on Lowes.
