I don't get it. Are you like, trying to fall in love with yourself? Why do you do say you dress sexy, for yourself?

Think of it like this:

Most people decorate their homes. They choose colors, wallpaper, pictures, etc. that they like, that make them feel good, and/or that express themselves.

Fashion is very similar for some people, but rather than surrounding yourself with things that you like and that make you feel good, you're actually wearing them. Many women choose clothing because THEY think it looks good, they like the style, they think its pretty or fun, it makes them feel comfortable or confident or fierce, they feel like it expresses their personality, and so on. Sometimes they happen to be form-fitting or revealing, but that isn't necessarily the reason why someone chose that outfit. They think, "I like this, and I feel good when I wear it."

That isn't to say that women never dress for other people, be that men or other women. Sometimes its a matter of fitting in (i.e. everyone else will be wearing something in a similar vein and you don't want to stick out like a sore thumb). But I think its incorrect to assume that just because a woman is wearing something revealing or has put a lot of effort into her appearance, she's necessarily doing it to attract/impress men.

Girls dress nicely for a number of reasons. Many girls feel confident and good about themselves when they dress nicely, and I think that's the most important reason to dress for yourself. Here are almost all the reasons why girls would dress in a sexy way:

1) To look better than other girls

2) Being fashionable is fun

3) Someone said this already, but when you look good, you feel good

4) The media tells us that it's important to wear nice (and sexy) things ALL THE TIME especially to women, so it just rubs off on us

5) A way to express ourselves

6) To attract a member of the opposite sex

7) To look cute for your significant other

8) When you're going out at night, it's fun to dress up

Probably vanity as in most societies this is socialized in gals as well as gals tend to enjoy self-expression through fashion or following trends (many of which is sexually objectifying as most clothes are sold to make the body look good).

Doubtful more likely it's either self-expression, enjoyment out of feeling sexy by looking sexy to herself, or vanity and self-esteem as gals tend to be valued for their looks so they want to look good as this is where their self-esteem/worth comes from.

I guess it's a bit of both, obviously sometimes it is to get male attention, no doubt.

But it CAN be just because it makes ourselves feel good. It's empowering to look in the mirror and think, "damn, I look like a minx tonight" whether we appear that way or not to men, is often besides the point, it's about making ourselves feel confident and pretty,

also like selfishstars said, just because someone is wearing something form fitting, or a little shorter/ more revealing and "sexy", doesn't automatically mean that was the first thing on their mind when putting it on, I have a few short skirts, I bought them because I just thought they were cute and went with my style, not because I want to attract male attention.

This is the kind of thinking that leads people to automatically assume a girl in anything they personally deem as "sexy" or showing skin must have really low self esteem and a need for validation...this is not true.

Generally I feel that is white lie, they actually do it to attract guys, they can say I'm full of it but noop I have had girls say this a million times to me then they go and flirt with some guy and try and break someone else up, not saying all girls do that though but generally they don't do it for themselves they do it in the hopes a guy might notice them they just say this to not make it obvious but it's still pretty darn obvious lol.

I wear whatever will make me feel good on a given day. It changes from day to day.

Because a lot of guys are rude with their actions and consciously or unconsciously they can make girls from their surrounding feel ugly or not good looking or just make them feel not good about them self, so by dressing up girls make up for those negative emotions and they feel better about themself
