Should I stop saying hi to him?

So there's this guy that lives in my building, he introduced himself to me at the beginning of the year, and we've talked a few times since then. Occasionally when we see each he'll say hi. Whenever we see each other in the dorm, about 50% of the time I'll smile and say hi to him, and a lot of the time he won't even respond and will just keep walking, and if I don't say hi he'll usually look away when we pass each other. Should I stop saying hi to him, because whenever that happens, I just feel like I'm being annoying

Personally, I always wait for a girl to say hi to me. Why? well, because I know I will take the lead in the conversation once it starts, the least they can do is start it. There's this girl right now who would ALWAYS say hi, until she got mad at me. Then I would say hi to her every time I saw her (for weeks!) and she would just blow me off, so I stopped. Now that we are talking again, neither of us say hi, we walk into each other, we are silent for a few minutes and then conversation just starts on a random topic, its funny :P

I agree 1000% (yepp, you read it correctly) with Admiralslow - I would act the same way; the dude has feelings for you and is shy; and what I would like to add, is that he has absolutely no idea if you have any feelings for him, so he's keeping himself firmly inside his comfort zone

I figured that by saying hi and starting conversations occasionally, that would be showing I'm interested. Maybe I just have really bad flirting skills. How would you suggest I go about it?

No idea as I'm severely introverted; but the few times I've initiated conversations with girls I found out that they also expected me to initiate all the next ones. But tell him you like him, but do it face to face

If I were you, I'd still say hi but only when he is looking directly at you. That way he notices you and feels obligated to say hello back. You both won't feel awkward. :)

He likes you and he is shy. Probably he is trying to get courage to talk to you but the more he thinks about it the more he gets nervous around you and less chances to do it. If you are not shy, make the move, I'm sure he will not reject you.

He probably feels nervous like the majority of people. I continue to be nice to people because I'm aware they just feel stressed. My good mood is not the issue.
