Put it down to human nature. Wanting what he can't have! You have become a challenge for him!
He’s talked to me before and we’ve chatted a little before. I started ignoring him a little cuz I like him (maybe he can tell) and he was only making small talk.
Maybe cause he is polite and would do it to anyone or likes u.

Again, he can be raised a gentleman and respectfully still continues to greet you despite you ignoring him. Just remember that the ocean is big and there are many fish like yourself swimming around. If you like someone and due to crush feelings ignore them, someone else might come across and hook him up. Then you are all confused as to why.
