Have you ever heard of PostSecret?

PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where send in their Secret on a post card. Between the website and published books, the power of secrets has connected many and even contributed funding to the National Suicide Prevention Hotline.
I stumbled across a PostSecret book during one of the lowest points of my life. These were secrets of all kinds. Some made me laugh, some made me cry, and some made me sink a bit lower. But reading the secrets people shared made me feel less alone in the world.

So I'm sharing these now--- just a few in case you've never seen or heard.

And then I'll ask you... Would you like to share a secret?

Uhh, I don’t really have interesting ‘secret’

This isn’t s secret but my sisters boyfriend (at the time) who’s now her ex — messaged me on daily basis and every 5 minutes whereas he would only message her every 3 hours.

At the beginning it felt friendly and I did warn her before all this, I said ‘please don’t give your boyfriends number to me!’ And she laughed it off and thought I was being too dramatic. Men are predictable. She didn’t listen and gave it to me (I had to pick something up from her Uni and he’s always at hers.)

So yeah after that I picked something up he would not stop talking to me. I asked my little brother whether this was normal and he said ‘yeah he’s looking out for you like a brother’ my instincts says otherwise.

My sister found out he had been messaging me— I even planned on talking to her about it but I truly didn’t know how? She would be devastated and hate me despite it not even being my fault. I kept it plain as possible.

So she knew I had no interest in the man, I kept it friendly. Shower her every single screenshot and allowed her to go through the entire chat :D
He got annoyed but yeah that’s my sis.

But yeah me and my sister are still very close. There was a time where my ex liked my sister and I didn’t hold a grudge against her.

Oh, but what is cool is not just sharing a secret, but making the postcard, in the end is like a mini piece of art and at the same time as if it were a piece of someone's soul.

Yea, great post, it's the concept of confession, being open and exposing these things creates connection to others, releases the power of those things and like a lot of these, benefits others.

Love the idea of writing notes in books... not sure the library does!

A big one for me is I was very close to a prior female friends son, he was my best buddy, I don't have kids, and it broke my heart to leave him as I did and disconnect.

I shot a baby bird when I was little, it was tragic for me such that I don't hurt things generally, I save ants and toss them out! I'm very sorry to that birds mother... who I saw not long after looking for her lost baby. :(

I still love my 5th grade teacher, even though she's like 75 now, same feelings! I mis Mr's S.!

I was emotionally and mentally violated by my sister boyfriend who is now her husband. I was at the lowest of my life. I had my Autistic brother to keep me company. It was just us, we were helping each other and paying the bills. We had no car and took the bus for transportation. So one day I called my sister who was living with her boyfriend. If she can drop off some groceries and I would pay her. Turns out her boyfriend showed up, I told him thank you. Then out of nowhere, he judged me the way no one has EVER judged me before. I told him he has no right to judge me since he does not know me. Then he said: “I’m not judging, I’m just calling what I see. You and your brother are the worst condition people I’ve ever met.” I was frozen, shocked, and stunned...

I called my sister telling her what happened. And I never wanted him to set foot inside my house.

But what really pissed me off, is this man has abused and kicked my sister out far too many times. That she stays with me. He is a lazy person who never cleans up after himself and ask my sister to ask my parents for money. Even his own mother and stepdad kicked him out.

And my autistic brother is so smart. And he loves to organize and clean up everything.

And how has this affected me? ...
I’m already shy and insecure about myself. I feel with his harsh criticism and judgement. I’m scared to be in a relationship. Cause I’m afraid no guy would like me the way I am.

1. I have frequent thoughts and dreams of murdering those around me to free them of this painful sinful world even though I really love everyone.
2. I have many friend but wish I had someone to share my deep thoughts with and have a real conversation with, or debate ideas with.

4. I was pressured into having sex with my ex multiple times despite me regretting it every time and never really wanting sex in the first place, just someone to chill with.
5. I see the shadows of people in the corners of my eyes and other hallucinations everywhere in my field of vision.
6. I can never keep a friendship where me and the other person only talk, I run out of things to say unless we're walking or doing some other activity.
7. When I was 14 I was offered thousands to have intercourse with a dudes wife and was seriously considering it before turning it down.
Some of these were kinda strong and others kinda mediocre secretes, sorry for not putting them in any particular order.

When I was married, my step-daughter would walk around the house in her panties and bra and if her mom wasn't at home (happened fairly often) she would sometimes walk around in just her panties. A few years ago I tried to kill myself by overdosing on sleeping pills and Nyquil.

Afterwards I felt ashamed that I would try such a simple and stupid method when I had guns available to me, but also a little proud that my body was able to survive it.

I learned to close myself off from feeling things to protect my self, but now I find it difficult to feel happy or angry anymore. And if I do it's usually fleeting. Not that I'm complaining about it. It's just weird comparing how I am now to how I used to be. It is, in my opinion, better than risking feeling like I did when I tried to kill myself. Though those feelings/thoughts still surface from time to time, I am more equipped to handle them. Sacrificing my ability to feel like others makes me feel less human and more like a robot, but it's worth the trade.

This was truly one of my favorite library book finds a few years back. The truth is, the only person we can truly know is ourselves, so as much as you think, omg, that's crazy, this person needs to tell someone about this, we all have some type of secret or just part of us we don't share with others. I've never been able to tell my parents that I was raped by an ex boyfriend.

I am usually a nice person quiet and shy until provoked and have a very aggressive side that most people have never seen until almost cracking a guys skull open in front of a small crowd ( all the crowd knew me) not many had seen this side of me.
