They aren't used to getting hit, that's why.
-Rugby players hit all the time. So they are used to it. Plus, getting injuries isn't fun so while rugby players hit each other hard, they don't go all out because they could hurt THEMSELVES from hitting the other dude.
-MMA and other grappling/boxing sports again hit each other all the freaking time, so they are more used to it.
-Believe it or not, Hockey players and American Football players actually hit each other the HARDEST, since they have all that protective clothing. It actually creates more serious and lasting injuries than in other sports because the players have no sense of self preservation thanks to the false confidence from the thin little padding they put on themselves. They, like other players, are used to getting hit, so they can take more of it.
The reason soccer players are so soft is because soccer isn't a sport about toughness, sort of like cross country. It's about skill and getting as many points as possible. Most of those flops can help their team get free kicks, which increase the chance for points. While I do find it ridiculous, I would do it to if my team needed it.

It's just to milk a free kick or try to get a penalty or try to get the other team yellow or red carded in order to gain a numbers advantage.
Football (soccer) is an extremely deceitful sport. It's not as rough as sports like Aussie rules or rugby or rugby league but it does take more skill and is more about tactics and finesse than brute strength. It's much harder to control a ball just with your feet than it is to do it with your hands.
So it doesn't really give you that much of an advantage to be big and tough in soccer. You'll find smaller to average size players are better in soccer because they are more agile and can turn easier with the ball at their feet. Lionel Messi for example.
And this is coming from a rugby/league fan.

I think soccer is less on toughness and more focused on skill and ball control. They "flop" to get calls for free kicks and penalties because it can help them when, so I guess they are willing to sacrifice their 'toughness' but the goal of a competitive sport is to WIN, not how you look while doing it. As long as its not cheating.
Also, it takes a whole lot more skill to control a ball with your FEET which you never use to handle/hold things on a day to day basis than it does to do so with your HANDS in most other sports which you already use everyday. Not to say other sports are not skillful, they definitely all take lots of skill but using your feet verse your hands is definitely harder. The little quote we had when i played high school varsity, was
"If the ref don't see, it's not a penalty"
so when we fell we tried to make sure the ref saw so we could get a bit of an advantage.
football dosn't use "instant reply to deside calls like in American football. the one ref and the two lines men are all that keep watch over the game. so player well take advantage of that in any way possible, that is the nature of the sport. With the Grace and beauty comes deceit. Its just the rules of the game that any contact deemed to be not fair play is a foul so a freekick or penalty is rewarded so some players take advantage of this and 'dive'
Could be worse though, could be playing American football with helmets and body armour! LMAO!!!They aren't as soft as some people make out, there are a lot of big injuries in the game and a lot of the time it's just diving.
But yeah a lot of people that play soccer are super soft. I played rugby and soccer growing up and the rugby players are way tougher. In my last soccer team we had players going off because they had sore legs and blisters haha wtf.
In rugby you don't go off until you can't move. It's just the way the sport is played (unless you're name is Messi)
It helps your team by getting a free kick, stopping play so your guys can rest. In such a low scoring game, every chance to score matters.Well, I for one, am sorry, that I'm not as tough as a peoples and a nation, that evolved from a group of convicts.
They're not soft, they're just trying to get a call from the ref.
In fact, Soccer injuries are way worse than other sports.. dozens of soccer are missing the world cup because of bad injuries, some of them can end the player's career
In other sports they wear armor for a reason.
Did you ever had someone perform on you a full bodycheck like in those games?
You would be crying in no time, girl! The human body (male or female) is far more fragile than you think. They're more divers trying to sell the ref than anything else. Which is still something I wish they'd crack down on.
I play Soccer too and I love it... some players exaggerate a lot. But from experience sometimes fouls surprisingly hurt a lot. especially when you're sprinting and your foot gets hit... painful fall as it comes without being conscious of it!
It's just soccer, it's such a joke. No need to get worked up over it.
They're not that soft, they're pretending for free kicks. They're still a bunch of pansies compared to the big muscle manly men in ruggers, but meh :P
You dominated the minds of weak soccer players. Well done.
They do it to get the opposite team into troubel
