OK here is an honest opinion so hold on. It sucks. I'm sure he will hate it as he gets older. Boys like to blend in. Girls are different and your thinking like one. Girls like stand out names , that is why they come up with the different spellings like Jeniphyr for Jennifer or Lynda for Linda. Guys don't want to be different. Give him a good strong masculine old fashioned name, Mike, Joe, Tom, Jake, he'll thank you later when you tell him you were going to name him something stupid like Zephyr.

+1 ySounds like evil movie corporation or a sci-fi artifact. Umm.. It does sound really cool, but there's possibility that the kid is going to get picked on because of it.

lol it does sound like some sort of sci-fi or anime crap.

AHA! I was wondering why that name was so familiar.. It's the name of the skateboarding group that made skateboarding popular and street credible. Now I'm really liking the name!
- +1 y
Cool! I recommend watching Lords Of Dogtown. It actually tells about the group and the main guys who revolutionized the sport.

Thank you very much! :)

Gonna name your kid after a weapon in league of legends... oh lawd..
- +1 y
League of Legends is one of the most, if not the most, popular online games in the world. Zephyr is also a type of item in Final Fantasy (Zephyr Mantle, Zephyr Cape, Zephyr fan etc)-- perhaps you have at least heard of FF. It's also the key word in many traveling related companies as it's origins means wind. Probably not the best name choice just FYI. But in Freakonomics, a guy named one son Winner and another Loser.. Winner lived a life of crime and was in and out of jail frequently and Loser grew up to be a successful businessman.. So a bad name isn't necessarily a bad thing.
+1 yI think he would get made fun of in school and have a lifetime of people not pronouncing his name properly. Go for a more common, pronounceable name or you're setting him up for failure. Studies show children with odd names are more likely to have low self esteem because people can't remember or pronounce their names and they make fun of them.
Don't make your child a target.114 Reply- +1 y
I already named my son... his dad is named Zebulon and he never got made fun of... we wanted something as unique that also started with a Z. My name is Raine, pronounced like Rain, but I sometimes tell people its something else, just cause I had a nickname when I was little that morphed into something else and it just stuck... I never got made fun either
- +1 y
Suit yourself.
Also rane isn't unusual. That's my sisters name. - +1 y
I suppose. It's Latin. Latin names are common. Because kids make fun of other kids for being different or odd or having anything "weird". It's a fact of life. Odd, hard to spell and pronounce names are "weird".
- +1 y
Yes but you don't live in Germany.
- +1 y
English is Latin based. Just FYI. Don't be so offended my god.
And I don't see what you being German has to do with anything. I'm Irish doesn't mean my parents have to name me Shannon. - +1 y
"Are you in Ancient Rome?" So you're either mentally inept or you were snotty first. Don't give me that "you sounded snotty" bullshit.
- +1 y
Me asking if you were in Germany was a rhetorical question, bub.
+1 yi think it would be a good name when they were young, the most important thing is to think about whether it will still sound good when they are 30, i think Zephyr is an awesome name though!

+1 yI was somewhat wondering if the high school assholes would claim that the name is feminine, but to be honest, not really, and even if they did, it wouldn't really matter. It's a cool name, especially if people will call him "Zeph". That's so cool, haha.

+1 yYikes. is it a family name or something? That sounds really bad. and he is going to get teased something fierce... unless you come up with some kind of nickname that he goes by.
13 Reply- +1 y
People say he's going to be teased... like what could people say? His dad and I are both attractive and I get compliments on his all the time... we both eat healthy and are not super fit but in good shape, so he's not going to be fat... we make really good money... so what would they tease him about?
- +1 y
kids are mean. if he is popular or one of the "pretty people" then there are different rules for them... they will probably think it is unique. in the end it doesn't matter if others think it is a horrible name, if you like it, and your ok with your son being stuck with it for his whole life, then that is what you should do. Maybe you give him a more normal middle name. so worse case he can go by his middle name. or he can be an initial kid. My ex wife wanted an initial kid. so our youngest is Devn Jon but we call him DJ... you could do ZJ or whatever...

+1 yUnique name, but he's gonna be in for some shit when he hits high school. No denying that.
25 Reply- +1 y
Zephyr blimp, name may also be interpreted as kind of feminine (even though it has basis in Zephyrus, God of Winds but High schoolers don't know that shit).
- +1 y
He'll probably be referred to as "Zeph," it's a harder stop name and sounds more masculine, the final "phyr" kind of makes it sound soft. Just going by how the name slips off the tongue and what comes to mind.
- +1 y
Sounds good

+1 yZephyr is such a cool, masculine and badass name. Reminds me of the Resonance of Fate character as well.
02 Reply- +1 y
It's a video game.
It's exotic sounding. I'd think the kid's parents must be weird. For all that I'm anti conformist, I really love traditional, strong names.
01 ReplyFirst thing i think of when I read "Zephyr" is the item from League of Legends haha. Personally I don't like it, but that doesn't mean it's not a decent name.

+1 ySounds good as well as masculine but the meaning of the name sounds more fem :)
A different name alright but sounds nice :)00 Reply - 1.5K opinions shared on Other topic.
+1 ysounds more like a name for a girl. Kinda like Sapphire. Zephyr is not very masculine, I'm afraid he will be bullied.
00 Reply 6.9K opinions shared on Other topic. I like the name, but from what I understand
it's supposedly a girl name, with origin in Greece.
I still like the name though ^~^00 ReplyReminds me of pokemon. The Zephyr Badge. It's unique. Kinda badass. Only thing is, he might get made fun of in early schooling because it is a strange name. He's also gonna have to tell everyone how to pronounce it, which might be annoying for him.
00 Reply7.6K opinions shared on Other topic. It's interesting... but I'm personally into more traditional English language names (for ease of social & professional acceptance reasons).
10 Replysounds like a equipment on League of Legends.
If you put a pool with names, put Son Goku or Gohan as option. one of those both will definitely win03 ReplyIts a nice name. In Arab it means gentle breeze ( and its very close to the pronunciation of whistle).
01 ReplyReminds me of a Madonna song "Ray of Light". But the name itself is cool
00 Reply2.9K opinions shared on Other topic. Sounds a bit too odd in my opinion. Like something from a cheesy sci-fi movie.
