Why does bryan cranston look so different in breaking bad?

it wasn't that long between the end of malcolm in the middle and the start of breaking bad but he looks completely different in the 2 shows. i didn't even know it was the same guy at first

I know right! For me it was because of how unusual it was to see Cranston in such a polar opposite character from his goofy, humorous role on MITM. He is definetly a chameleon when it comes to acting!

Because he's that great of an actor. Aside from being bald most of breaking bad, watch his body language, mannerisms, everything. Even his voice is different.

Absolutely! Plus being bald makes a big difference and he wore glasses in breaking bad. But watch his posture and his movements and body language on the two shows. They're completely different. It really can go a long way to change ones appearance.
