Looks matter a lot in this world and I think it would be great if people could choose every aspect of the way they look safely and efficiently. A A persons confidence is often, but not always based upon their looks, and without confidence, you're really held back. However the surgeries that make the most difference are often dangerous and the results could make you look worse than you used to. You can't efficiently/precisely change your facial bone structure. Maybe in the future but not with current technology. Ok now about the eye color surgery. ..
For me the answer would be no because
1. The risks outweigh the benefits (read below articles)
2. I have hazel eys, which can look kinda green in the sunlight, so I don't really want to change them.
3. The results don't look that natural, it's not completely obvious but it's not the same as natural blue eyes

Ooops, my mistake 😯 However it probably still carry risk of vision impairment, and I don't think it's worth the risk just to change your eye color but I guess we'll have to wait and see how effective/safe it is. Also that means blue eyes could become more common BUT my hazel eyes will remain somewhat rare.

I read the article and it said:"Different to corrective laser eye surgery: The treatment to alter the colour involves using a laser inside the eye, rather than on the surface, so it can potentially cause more damage" Also I read the article that sandplanet posted about the risks of lasik, so you've got to consider that the eye color surgery is riskier and it's for a cosmetic benefit rather than a functional one. Also what matters more than the color of the eye is the shape and positioning of the eye, which can't be changed. If people want to take the risk that's fine but I couldn't justify it. Even lasik surgery scares me I'd rather stick to wearing mu contacts.
well, they say it's only performed on the shallowest level of the iris, so not really going so much deeper into the eye than corrective laser surgery... but that's not the point here. the point is would you change your eye colour to blue if it's free and free of complications? I hope most browneyed people would still say no.
Well obviously they are going to downplay the risks, they want people to pay for the procedure. It's just not worth the risk of blindness for a cosmetic procedure imo... Anyways if it was free of complications, still no, like I said I like my hazel eyes. However if I could get eyes like this I'd reconsider. ..

Those don't look as nice as the picture I posted. I know the one I posted is photoshoped but it looks more realistic. The colored contacts are opaque, just a flat color gradient film placed in front of your eye. But natural eyes are somewhat transparent so the colors have more depth to them. Not sure if I explained that well but to me even the blue colored contacts don't look very natural. I don't know maybe it depends on the brand but most seem obviously fake, especially when you see them up close.
As a med student, I've seen so many proceedures claiming to change your eye color permenantly but there isn't any data regarding potential risks on their site.
I would rather remain brown eyed than facing post operative problems associated with that.
true. this one is not on the market yet.. the other one that is already on the market turned out to cause glaucoma after a few years... but let's say this technology will have as many complications as eye laser surgeries to correct shortsightedness. how many would even do it?
It takes lots of years to know the disadvantages of any proceedure and probably tons of clinical trials but if it has less disadvantages, I bet 9/10 people would do it. I really think blue eyes are overrated tbh.

I would like to have brown eyes tbh. I have bright blue eyes, but I think brown eyes are prettier, even though a lot of people think my eyes are beautiful. Why do people want to have blue eyes so bad? You can't see shit when the sun shines and in a lot of lights, they'll look more grey like even though you have very blue eyes.

Well, I already have blue eyes. If I had brown eyes, I'd rather have them be blue.
However, I wouldn't risk eye problems to have that procedure done, but if there were theoretically a way to do it with zero risk, I'd have it done.

I used to want to get brown eyes, believe it or not. It was the same logic of how guys supposedly like girls who are so thin they have no fat on them at all - I figured people didn't like me because of my eye color, as everyone else had brown, haha.
Obviously, the reason was because I as genuinely unlikeable. But I like my eyes now, so voted C).

@harakiri well not anymore, but there was a time when I was desperate to read about "empathy" so I could disprove its existence because I went with the logic that "you are not them therefore it is impossible for sou to feel what they feel, therefore empathy cannot exist" but I read about it enough that I actually learned it, lol. It still takes me more conscious effort at times than it seems to take for others, but still better than nothin'.

Some Dr. In California is already doing the procedure, but it's not gov approved yet. Everyone is born with blue eyes, the melanin just hides it with a different color. If I was rich and had $500 to blow, then I'd do it. But me, being a blsck guy, most people would just assume that I must have hated my brown eyes and got blue eyes to feel better about myself so nah I'll stick with brown to avoid the criticism.

My eyes are already blue but personally, I don't see why anyone would want to change their eye color like that. Brown eyes are pretty too, especially on people with darker skin tones. All eyes are unique and beautiful in their own way.

Some people have legitimate 'defects' and the surgery just fixes things that are really bad. But yeah, for the majority you are probably right.
cosmetic surgeries are surgeries performed ONLY for cosmetic reasons alone. plastic surgeries aren't necessarily for cosmetic reasons only.. but deviated septums can be corrected without altering your nose shape. some just use it as an opportunity to change the whole nose shape.
Yeah I totally would my grandpa had them blue (RIP Papa) I wish I had them or at least hazel/green like my other Grandpa, Dad and brother. I think I would look weird to be honest.

I generally dislike brown eyes don't know why. I don't even date anyone that has brown eyes. I can't explain it. So yeah if I had brown eyes and had this amazing opportunity yeah I would do it brown is too mundane.

idk.. a friend seemed pretty happy with his corrected eyes. waking up with perfect vision is nice.. especially when you're as near-sighted and clumsy as I am.

I just watched it again.. I think it is the same girl xD she just sounded like she had a cold in the first interview. if you look at 2:17 you'll see her blue eye color is extremely fake.. and she has the same dimples at the corners of the mouth when she's talking.. also the same speaking pattern.
