Can I put WD-40 oil on my electric shaver?

It is getting a bit old and is not cutting as well as it used to. They say that perhaps it needs oiling. Shall I just pure it on the blade / trimmer and run it a bit?

Because to me it simply sounds like those blades have one Waaay past their expiration date.
Also i've found electric razors to not cut as well as regular razors.

lol at misscofeehead. if you can't get new foil then a little oil may work though wd40 will be too thin. the oil that comes with clippers is more like motor oil than penetrating oil

I've used olive oil on hair clippers so I would imagine WD-40 would work much better... Plus you'll smell lush! I love WD-40.

Yeah, and? I actually quite like the smell of grease and welding! But WD-40 smells better than loads of aftershaves!

Hell no, not WD-40 unless they're really seized up and you're trying to loosen them, if you're trying to make the operation smoother then you need something like 3in1 oil

Why don't you just sharpen the blade?

Kinda hard to do with alectric razors. Have you seen those things? There's like a lot of tiny blades, and it'd be impossible to sharpen one without damaging the other.

And @asker that's another reason i stopped using electric shavers. They're hillariously expensive. The blades cost a small fortune. Just use a regular razor. I find them easier to use, cuts better, AND the blades are cheaper. Still expensive, but at least cheaper. Plus, dead bateries won't randomly leave you with a half-shaved face.
Hell, i've even considered to try out double edged razors. Harder to use, but better result. And lower chance for nicks and zitzes (if used right) than modern safety razors

@dartmaul15 if you have a beard like mine (so you want to have a style and not to cut the whole length ) then I better use electric one. 25 dollars ( or euros) is not a big amount of money if you buy it every few years.

@asker oh dear, you are so wrong. Electric ones are HOPELESS for styling with.
The best ones for that are in fact sinle or double edge razors. Well, technically the razor timmers are better, but they're only practical for the edges.
Also for trimming you NEED sharp blades. Replacing them every couple years is not sharp, just saying. Shaving equipment is one of the areas men are waaay too lazy on. Good equopment pays off, not necesarily in dollars, but in a better and more comfortable shave. Plus the result is better, with both less iritation and a better shave.

But no, not like disposable razors. Like propper razors, those you just change the blade on. Safety razors, single blade razors, double blade razors, straight razors... proper razors. They're more often than not of a higher quality than disposable razors.
