Green light next to SMS message? What is this?

Just recently I've noticed a green light next to my boyfriends sms text message on my phone (android). Sometimes it will show an away sign and then sometimes there is nothing. What is this. It's driving me nuts!!! He says he doesn't know.

It means that he is active on chat. Either by moving his mouse or checking mail. It's a sign that he is using his computer.

Yes, what I mean is when someone texts your phone. All of a sudden, my boyfriend texted me and next his name there was a green light. It switched to an away status eventually. I have a Samsung Galaxy 3.

Was it green light on screen or on led flash near your speaker?

I own galaxy s4 and near my speaker there exists a led indicator which flashes when I got unread notification.

Opinion: it is in the messages folder on my Android. When I click on text message folder it opens up and shows a list of conversations (name on left and date on right. This round small bright green dot is right above the time. Sometimes it will show a small orange clock indicating away.

@Opinion owner... hopefully this will work. He says he doesn't have Google Talk, Google hangouts. He just has a registered email address with Google/Gmail and Yahoo.

Its for GoogleTalk. You have their gmail address included in their contact info so it shows when they`re online or idle etc.

So, it couldn't be his online status for Skype? I noticed it with another Skype contact, but I don't have google talk or if he has it, have his good talk or hangouts address.

I consulted it with experts, they told me that it's because of G-talk. He may accidentally have it.

A green light is usually an indicator symbol of a message received of some kind. It could be a reminder light that flashes every few minutes for an unread message.

I re read your question... that green light means he is online. If he isn't active on the messenger for X amount of minutes, it will go "inactive" and the light goes away.

Sorry. It's the MMS folder not sms. Why is it only showing up in his messages next to his name though and no one else, and what messanger app would that be for his status to show up on his MMS

Omg.. I think I figured it out... if I go under all contacts that show this green dot, I have noticed they also have a Skype account. If I click on their profile, under contact in my phone, it says "connection." This shows all the apps I have connected to this person. If I click on linked contacts it shows that I have slype connected to him. If I uncheck Skype link, the dot disappears. I verified it with another contact that was showing the green dot. Please correct me if im wrong.
