Don't have too much fun?

I am new to US and I don't understand many of the phrases you are using.. So this Friday my male colleague wished me Happy Weekend and I wished him back. Then he stopped me and said don't have too much fun during weekend. What does that phrase mean? Sorry in advance if this question looks stupid to you. I was not sure what to reply for this. So I just smiled. What does this phrase mean and how should I respond o this. Thank you

It means he doesn't want you to get into any guys. But he doesn't want to sound like a parent so he says that in a joking way. He might like you actually. Probably. Either that or he's just concerned about your safety and wellbeing

maybe he meant don't drink too much, or he means sex?

He don't know me to like me or care for me... I have seen him in the office and we have interacted only for work related things but not too closely...

It means not to have so much fun (drinking/partying/etc) that you get into trouble. It pretty much means have fun but stay out of trouble

It's become a well known enough saying that some people just say it without thinking. I've definitely said it before. It really isn't all too important or anything. It's just something to say. Usually said to be friendly

Its interesting how different it is across different culture. If someone says that in my culture then in means then it can be taken as offensive depending on the situation. Thank you for clarifying...

Having too much fun implies you're doing "naughty" things. You could reply "I won't do anything you wouldn't do."
