Not getting a verification email! What should I do?

My friend wants to join, however he is not receiving a verification email. I don't remember it being that difficult to sign up... What should he do?

Has he checked his junk folder? Has he checked he put his email in correctly? Has he waited longer than 5 minutes?

Yay :D Maybe there was a sudden spike in the people signing up and that caused a delay in the email? Ah well yay at least he's got it now :)
