How long does it take for a sunflower plant to decompose?

i tried looking it up all I can find is info on sunflower seeds I have 4 sunflower growing in my yard and it's the end of the year they have like a week to ten day before they will be 100% done and I was thinking of barring then and letting them decompose under the soil so I was wondering how long it would take for them to decompose I live in western Washington which is a marine climet since I know climet matter on decomposition timing

usually the package the seeds come in from the store tell you, but there's no set time for decomposing plant matter it depends on temp and humidity. but you can turn them into mulch and speed up the process, a lawn mower, and weed eater does the job.
