If you could, would you freeze yourself and wake up in the future?

There's been ongoing research in cryonics (science of using ultra-cold temperature to preserve human life with the intent of restoring good health when technology becomes available to do so).

It is costly however at $28,000 to freeze yourself. BUT, if you didn't have to worry about the money and had that option now or when you die, would you do it?

And if so what year would you want to wake up? Or in other words what tech would you hope to be available?

After I die yes.

If I get a currently incurable disease/cancer that can be treated in the future,

Well id probly be considered thick in 3000 years where you could learn at twice the speed and in games vr ultra or solid emulated reality worlds in space maybe even a chip and earning uploads who knows etc
But there may be a basic income by then so hopefully it would still be good even if my that my iq dropped to around 50 at least i could more or less have immortality hopefully giving me time as well as using genetic engineering chips and what ever else to shorten the gap enough so the population did not see me as cognitively challenged and i wasn't limited to interacting with human like androids.
It would be a gamble and id be at a disadvantage vs everyone then but i might go for it if we are talking fixed all the worlds problems time frames.

I'll pass. I'd be more interested going back in the past to fix some mistakes I did. But the future... sure, there is some stuff that interests me (especially as someone who is in love with tech), but I think once I've seen it all I would wanna go back.

The future doesn't have to be better... maybe you wake up and the first thing that happens is some officer giving you a gun to go out and fight in WW3 because they run out of soldiers

Yeah that was the issue I was thinking of quite deeply, we won't know how the world is going to look like, nor the society. What if I wake up and mixed race people are seen as dirty like in nazi times, who's to say society won't be like that? Big risk but my curiosity is too strong... xD

Well, actually no. I mean sure, you get to see what the newest iphone is (._.) probably will be as big as a refridgerator :) But in the future i'd miss my family and mates. What's the point of fearing death? I mean, you could fend it off as long as possible with the freezing and unfreezing or some fountain of youth type medicine, but is that a life truly worth living if you're by yourself? I'd rather join the people i really care about. :) either in oblivion or wherever else.

I would freeze myself as a last resort but i don't want to end up like fry. I much rather be able to freely travel through time but i got stuck in the future i would hope it was the space age traveling the galaxy and beyond.

I would do it if I could, though. I want to see what's ahead, but fuck me if 100 years from now will be worse. You never know. I'll probably do it for the next 50 years or so.

This so called research is pure scam to get money from the government. In reality this research will not be succesful, it is impossible, our body is too complex. Can't believe some people would believe in it especially the educated ones.

I haven't done enough research into cryonics but the concept may or may not possible, I wouldn't rule it out. After all with the technology we have nowadays we've found so many ways to cure diseases that were once incurable and deadly, as well as getting heart beat to start working again after a person had been presumed dead. So whats to say we can't freeze bodies and revive them?

when i was 20 we had records, video tapes, no internet and phones had a wire to the wall. all you would be doing is missing the huge leaps of the next 30 years at least plus you won't see family ever again

100 - 200 years and the world and beyond will be much richer per capita so they may well have basic income and it will probly be cleaner.
Free to study and work on what you want and able to fix everything you don't like about yourself.
