In my country, we have no skin care item called vaseline.
"Vaseline" is just a term for awful smelly grease-based lubricants used to lubricate moving parts in machines.

Chapped lips, using Vaseline as a lube with condoms can considerably weaken the effectiveness and strength of the latex so I wouldn't recommend it, a water based or spermicidal lubricant would be much more suitable.

When I was young people would joke about Vaseline all the time referring to masturbation. At some point the jokes switched to 'lotion'.

I think lotion wasn't in every bathroom when I was young.

For the record Vaseline feels really good in an interesting way but is annoying to clean up.
