I am not surprised at this, I have heard women talking about relationships for years.

They all seem to have some sort of back up plan, for everything.

Know a female that has a back up guy to marry, incase she has not met Mr. Perfect and married him by the time she is 30something.

The women with back up relationship plans are easy to pick out, she is the one that always ends one relationship only after she has started another relationship.

What makes you so sure that back burner will even work? The fact that you never dated the guy (whom you have on the "back burner") means that you are trying to have your cake and eat it, too. I would NEVER date someone that had me on her back burner. I'd rather be single than be in a relationship with someone like that.
