If the kids mixed white and Latino we say the kids= Hispanic
If we the kid is mixed Asian and white = we say the kids Asian
Well, being Asian and my hubby is white, we have three kids. They could all pass for white or Asian. The kids tends to identify as Asian for very practical purpose. They believe, and I think rightfully so, that they gain advantage for identifying as a minority. My husband, who is white has said he has zero issue with them identifying either way. That its purely their choice. It has nothing to do with their genetics, its a conscious choice they are making.
It's not that the genes are weak it's just that the in between often looks closer to the other parent than the white parent, ex. monolid eyes, darker skin, thick curly hair-the middle ground is closer visually to the one parent vs the white parent.
I think my sister and I are a perfect mix of my mom and dad, we look like both in the face, but weirdly we don't really look black or white, like hispanic or middle eastern.
Focusing on what kids are called, for a long time in the US at least, white people adhered to the one drop rule with black people to keep even descendants of black people enslaved so and at a disadvantage. As stated in the article, this only really applied to black people (since Native Americans and so on couldn't be enslaved)

Your main question is about genes but then the details lean more towards personal identification... I can only speak on things I have knowledge of, I don't know why a half hispanic person would identify as white vs hispanic and half Asian and so on, but I think it has a lot to do with one's parents, community, and maybe also how one looks.
The other genes are just more dominant compared to the 'recessive white gene' it would be the same. concept in eye colour and how blue is recessive compared to a dominate brown
i'd say one of the partner who is ethnic, displays stronger physical traits
? *confused
Is this a black thing?
You mean indian or pak?
Have you been out of your country
Most Latinos are white. Kids with Black and White parents are biracial usually with a mix of African and Caucasian features and often very light brown skin. As for people who are half Asian half white I can never quite tell because sometimes they look caussian but other times look Asian. People are too hung up on race anyway.

I think that you're misunderstanding what's going on here. White cultures uniformly subscribe to the "one drop" rule so of course white + non-white = non-white. It's not that those non-white genes are "stronger", it's that if a person carries any non-white traits, they are immediately considered to be the other race.

They are not "weak" that makes no sense. First and foremost the pigmentations genes of whites are actually more recent mutations and as such are recessive. That means they will tend to be less prominent. That has nothing to do with "white genes' as their are no such thing as "white genes".
Some genes are recessive and some genes are dominant. There's no such thing as genetic "weakness".

It's not that the White genes are weaker, it's that being a minority is seen as "cool" and it brings more benefits.
@vishna Not in the West, where you get benefits from being a minority.
Do you have any proof of that? I mean, even with affirmative action, white women have been shown to benefit more.

@vishna You should post reliable sources, not blogs or articles written by biased "writers" (or whatever Sally Kohn is).
And I'm not a White female, affirmative action is of no use for White men, only women and minorities.
Yea, you're not, but white females aren't a minority group and yet they are benefiting from legislature many think only helps minorities. Even programs associated with minorities are utilized, and in some cases more so, than actual minorities.

@vishna But women have been considered minorities in the workplace though, which is why affirmative action works for them.
In the end, it's very sad that affirmative action is a thing, it's only going to decrease quality, and it's definitely not going to help with race relations.
Affirmative action shouldn't be a thing. No race should benefit because of their race.
When you put syrup in milk, it's chocolate milk, not just milk. Color was added.
Thanks, guys :)
There are not white genes. Race is not a designation in biology.
What you are identifying is a social construct that "even one drop" of something "not white" makes you "inferior".
it's who you identify with, it's not who has the strongest genes
Well let's see brown eyes overtake blue
Dark skin over takes light
It's the way the world works
Evolution doesn't know if they need the dark skin or not so it generally gives it to be on the safe side. I think that's the general idea behind recessive genes
How do genes work? Beats me
Some alleles are recessive, others are dominant.
Because black is a stronger colour than white?
