Hey guys! I had my belly button pierced just over a year ago. It had some problems with healing around 8 months into it. However the pain went away and got tons better. About 3 months ago however the bottom hole became discolored and hasn't gone away. My doctor said it just looked like scarring. I have no pain, redness, or discharge whatsoever. However, the skin does seem to be getting thinner & my piercing does seem to fit differently than it used to. Could someone tell me what they think is going on? Is it rejecting? Do I need to take it out?
Since you don't trust your doctor, go see another doctor that won't have a problem with admitting that there's something wrong. And he will tell you what to do. It seems like you're not comfortable and your gut is telling you that something is wrong. So follow your got! Hope your problem goes away as soon as possible.

Well im not 100% sure since i only had my tongue and ears pierced but i did have deep scars. That looks exactly like a scar. Well i'm not saying take it out but you should know some things: If you give it enough time and it completely heals, the hole will stay there for life. No tissue regeneration after you take the piercing out for good. Also the hole WILL get bigger on its own. The only thing you can do is prolongue that process by not playing with the piercing (i used to play with the one in my tongue all the time and eventually the hole got so big that i didn't even need to unscrew the piercing to get it out).
I've seen rejects and infections but yours seems fine. Although it should be fully healed by 8months, I had complications with my eyebrow piercing for a year and had it removed eventually. I'd say use some saline solution or a teaspoon of sea salt in a cup of water, this should kill any germs or potential infections.
It looks fine. I've had mine for around 12 years and the skin is thinner between the two holes from when it was first done. Like any body mod it settles over time
If you're worried keep an eye on it, but really after 12 months and no current/recent infection it shouldn't reject at this point. I have a scar behind the bottom hole where I ripped a barbell through when I was 16 and it's still a purple colour but my current jewellery hides it pretty well. We'll all respond differently 😊
do you have to have it? have you ever read the one from dr seuss about the star bellied sneetches, not trying to be funny, he wasn't a medical dr... but you should read it
Probably good idea to get a second opinion like some other people said, for your peace of mind at the very least. It's not like doctors are perfect either.
I think you should have it taken out. I know a girl who got a bad infection from that piercing and she actually had to be hospitalized for a couple of days so I don't think it's worth the risk
i had a girlfriend one time that got her belly button pierced while we were together and when we had sex we disnt use a condon and i just pulled out... needless to say the piercing was not healing correctly... just thought id throw that one out there
Okay, so you're saying I shouldn't have pierced it? Valid thought, but I'm happy I pierced it regardless. Life is all about having fun and taking chances ☺️. And I'm not complaining, merely asking whether or not I should remove it.
Yes its seems your body is rejecting it. It might turn into sceptic, If it does doc might have to cut a part of that skin and it will leave a scar forever.
Do you mean sepsis? Very uncommon with rejection, unless you have a very bad infection & have to take it out and it the bacteria from the infection travels into your blood stream. I don't have an infection. But thanks for trying to give me nightmares? 😂
