Can I get in trouble for making a fake lease?

I'm trying to get electric in my name because my roommate has bad credit and can't get it. I have great credit. the electric company wants a copy of the lease and 2 forms of ID in order for it to get hooked up. is it illegal or fordge a lease? the land lord won't put my name on the lease for whatever reason and roommate wants to keep it in his name.

the power and water company's can't refuse anybody.. there is just a lot more money to be spent to get it hooked up. my friend once had to pay 6 months up front for a projected Bill usage in order to get the hook up. he got his money worth and credited for anything left over.
if anything maybe talk to the roommate and landlord aboit putting your name on as a sublet.

Yep that is straight up fraud, and since you asked the question here and it can be traced to you it can be used in court as evidence. please don't fraud.

It's actually very illegal and can result in you going to jail or paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines. I'd say your best off using your friends credit or even leaving all together
