When you talk about facts, we have no idea. If you solicit opinion, well. . . I would think there is just more galaxies and stars. I think the universe might be infinite in terms of space and time.

oh, I forgot to add! If the universe is truly infinite, then eventually, you will run into a duplicate of Zorax, myself and everyone in this forum. Eventually the sequences of planck space/time units have to repeat. It may take trillions of light years, but eventually you run into yourself and you run into yourself an infinite number of times.

No one universe. . . one system. You know what the word universe means, right? It literally means all that there is. In physics, we think of the universe as one, infinite or not, symmetric system. In physics, scientists believe there could parts of the universe where time runs backwards or where anti-matter dominates, negative energy etc. Because the sum total of all energy and matter in the universe is supposed to be ZERO.

Does that make sense?

So if you go far enough in this one system, you will see some crazy stuff, time running backwards, you would see yourself several infinite amounts of times, you would throw a ball and it would take off in the opposite direction of where you threw it, all kinds of insane things.

Interesting theory, but it still kinda reminds me of Multiverse ideas, and partially it sounds like some theories about other dimensions, with different laws of physics. Anyway, I like the idea, it makes sense.

Well symmetry is just an accepted concept throughout physics. Most physicists claim because we see so much evidence for symmetry around us, then that means the entire universe is symmetric. That has been no proof yet. The LHC has not found any evidence of supersymmetric particles, like the "selectron", the "gravitino", the "gluino", etc. But it could happen.

If symmetry exists, it would exist throughout the multiverse. Because symmetry would have spawned the entire multiverse.

As for running into yourself again, that doesn't have anything to do with symmetry. It has to do with the fact that you can digitize and entire universe and put it into a computer. In the end, everything we are can be reduced to a sequence of zeros and ones, because of the smallest increment of spacetime know is the planck length. And there are a finite combinations of energy and matter at the planck scale for any given area, so after awhile you would see repetition of those combinations.

I see, is that concept somehow related to the String Theory?

Well, String Theory does the multiverse thing. Basically, it is this elegant theory that could explain the birth of the universe, if it were ever proven. But we have no evidence for any of its prediction. It has failed every test so far submitted to the LHC. But some theorists are still clinging to hope.

But the way the multiple universe thing works in String Theory is that universe was created by the collision of these things called "branes". We live on a 4-D brane, but this world that the branes inhabit is in a higher dimension. These collisions happen all the time and there are an infinite number of universes because of that.

Very intriguing indeed, older theories usually are related to the collision of matter and antimatter, whilst some other theories also speculate about three or four types of matter - besides normal matter and antimatter they usually discuss about dark matter and exotic matter.

I have heard about the universe exploding from quantum fluctuation, but I have never heard of the theories you listed. Can you talk about them in some detail? Explosion of matter/anti-matter, right?

Well, I'm not an expert but I heard that theory on tv, several years ago, in some documentary, but they also mentioned that it's not proven because of the matter-antimatter asymmetry problem, that's why I think quantum fluctuation is more plausible, just like you said.

Yea kinda. Current observations suggest that the Universe is about 13.7 billion years old. We know that light takes time to travel, so that if we observe an object that is 13 billion light years away, then that light has been traveling towards us for 13 billion years. Essentially, we are seeing that object as it appeared 13 billion years ago.

There is more of the same universe, probably.
But we will never see it, the observable universe is a concept that does not care about what "telescopes" we have.
We can't see it because the image literally doesn't exist "yet".

Things outside of the observable universe are so far that the "image" in the form of electromagnetic radiation (light) simply didn't reach earth yet.
So we basically have to "wait" for this light to reach us first, before we can see anything.
