It is both Finite and infinite!..
Depending on your perception..
Since universe is expanding at speed of light, and nothing inside universe can go faster than speed of light, no matter how fast anything we can think exists will, never be fast enough to hit the border of universe, so according to this rule Universe is practically Infinite
However since before Big Bang Universe did not exist and is expanding at speed of light, and expanding into Existence and also Across time if we go 13.5 Billion years ago than Universe that we know was definitely smaller, so Yes UNIVERSE Maybe Infinite in X, Y, Z Axis. But if you add AXIS of TIME than Universe is definitely FINITE
It's infinite in size because of the definition of the universe.
Anything finite would still have something beyond it, and that too would still be counted as part of the universe.
It's also infinite in age, it had no begining, and it can't have an end, for much the same reason.
Inifinity is a certainty.
Also, people who say the universe is expanding are wrong.
Seeing objects within the universe distance themselves from eachother does not count as the universe as expanding. Something thats infinite can't expand, as it's already everywhere.
It technically has been proven. The word universe means universal, as in everything to exist anywhere at any time, and by that definition, I'm verifiably correct.
For me to be wrong about this, you would need to first redefine the word universe, otherwise math, physics, and general analogies about objects in space prove everything I said as the only possible outcome.
Things like comparing an expanding balloon not equating to the earth or anything else around it expanding, or how energy can't be created or destroyed, so it had to exist for eternity, or the paradoxes involved with beginings/creationism (what created the thing that created the thing that created the thing x infinity). I could talk about this stuff for hours, but there is solid logic, math, and experiments that validate my claim.
Under this definition, even the multiverse hypothesis would still be just one universe, regardless of whether or not galactic super clusters were grouped into discs, spheres, or other sorts of globules that are spaced apart from eachother.
I'm of course talking about the scientific version of that where universes are described similar to galaxies (but bigger), not the parallel timeline "multiverse" in fictional movies.
It's been proven already that time is just the measurement of objects moving in space, not something linear that can branch or be traveled or run in parralel.
Voted infinite! As my philosophy professor said we know shit about universe, God and consciousness. So you should be very afraid of people who claim to know even that.
Philosophy professors tend to know shit all about science.
1. The universe mathematically has to be infinite, so you're correct on that.
2. Omnipotence and creationsism are both verifiably self contradicting (and thus impossible) concepts, so a god can't exist.
3. Consciencess is bits of the universe understanding itself.
Infinite, with infinite dimensions

This is just solved by the simple fact there is no such thing as nothing. So something actually cannot be finite if we are looking out side of our own view.
Of course in our view oh I just drank that drink it's gone it was finite but no it don't just magically disappear all that's happened it's chemically changed while inside you and you bring it back out later as something else. But that don't mean it just stopped existing that energy is still 100% there.
Basically finite is a human made concept if you really get into it.
It’s finite in that mathematicians have supposedly calculated its expansion since the big bang, and computers have modeled that math into a theorized size and shape. Anything that CAN be calculated is finite by definition.
It’s infinite in that it is literally everything AND expanding, if the scientists and mathematicians are correct.
I'm working on a new theory about it. But it's not ready to be published within the next 30 or so years.
Similar to 'Schroedinger's approach, I deem it to be both at the same time.
To verify, I'll first need to prove that the speed of light is NOT the ultimate maximum speed possible, and I also need to -sorry, Albert- adjust the relation between time and space.
If you don't hear from me again, Mossad or CIA will have found me.
Finite. People perceive that there must be "something" beyond the edge of matter, but by definition "nothing" is not "something." In fact, it is improper to say "nothing" is, because "is" is a state of being and "nothing" has no being. In fact, it is improper to say that "nothing" has, because possession requires "something" and "nothing" is not... you get the picture.
I believe that awhile back some believed there was a demon guarding the speed of sound and that we were never going to be faster then for fear of the demon a few years after that a guy named Jaeger took on that "demon" with a couple cracked ribs if you believe the legend, and slayed him. Never say never, yes I'm aware of the physics
First, your username is awesome.
Second, I'm clueless about the universe other than it's really big and I'm really small, so my guess with zero empirical evidence is infinite.
Finite. Like time. If you believe it's infinite the Big Bang Theory makes no sense.
It makes more sense to believe there was a point of creation - especially given the images from deep space - and that eventually there will be an end.
Honestly. I don't know what all God has created. I suppose there could be other universes we don't even know about or universes inside of universes or other things we have no idea about
I do not have the most advanced technology or credibility to tell the answer.
Regardless of whether it's finite or infinite in space or volume, it's finite in laws.
both... the Universe is finite to itself, and infinite to us...
but the infinity of infinites might be greater than the Universe itself...hmmmm
Isn't it the other way round?
@andreasderjuengere the Schrodinger's way?
which premise though... lol
It’s expanding meaning that it isn’t infinite; it’s simply growing. Will it expand forever? That I do not know because my ape mind cannot full fathom such a concept.
I think that space is infinite, even if it has borders than our question is going to be what's behind the borders and the thing that is behind the borders is it finite or infinite, it will be a circle of infinite questions repeating itself 😄
i think it is infinite , i heard a theory about "multiverse " before and i agree with it
https://www.youtube.com/embed/GoW8Tf7hTGAIt is too late at night for me to wrestle with searching for a defensible answer to this question.
I've often asked in science. At what point do we say something exists? Doe the presence of mass, gravity, and a vector quantity have to be present?
I believe it to be finite, but growing (the latter has been proven true). And I don't believe humankind will ever explore the ends of universe.
This actually hasn't been proved yet but the observable universe in finite.
It's a fun question since everyone is merely guessing anyway. LOL There's no way to "prove" either position right now.
Both. Infinite in our current understanding, but there is a hypothesis that sometime in the distant future everything will collapse back into itself in another big bang moment!
I go with infinite for the simple reason it refers to someone whom I love
anything we can think of or imagine is finite.
It has to be infinite. There's no other logical possibility.
Wel the universe is expanding and due to dark energy is speeding up. So as far as we're concerned it's finite.
Infinite I mean.
I've never left planet earth to find out for myself lol
Universe is finite.
Space containing it is infinite.
I think of you go far enough, you’ll just spawn back a wee bit
Not something I worry about.
It is finite Everything has an end.
I believe it is infinite.
The only thing infinite here is stupidity
We are living in somethings fishbowl
both
Infinite
