I was washing laundry for me and my girlfriend and I noticed in everyone of her panties there is a little pocket in the crotch. What is the purpose for this?

Its a bit of fabric to make the crotch thicker to protect it from disharge and shit.

Its pocket like because to close the other end would mean having a seam rub against VERY sensitive bits all day.

It's not a pocket, it's a gusset and it's to minimum the friction of tight clothing and soak any moisture. So even though they might be lace underwear it'll have a cotton gusset
