I have a court order because of this stupid jerk still wanting to proceed with the report. My friend and I found his fb profile and said a bunch of bad words. He reported that too and we can't contact him at all.

It's not like I really hit someone, throw acid or anything. It was just a drink thrown when I was somewhat drunk. Is this going to affect me in any way (job, academically, etc)? I enrolled to college with a scholarship.

Counter-threat. He wants to press charges, so what did he do to cause you to throw a drink in his face? Can you exaggerate a little? Threaten charges of harassment? Even if you couldn't make them stick, it might make him think twice about following through with this.

Talk to a lawyer. You might be able to consult for free. Even if the lawyer does nothing more than send a letter to the guy, letting the guy know this might not go as easy as the thought, it might be enough to make him back off. An official letter from a lawyer on official letterhead with a bunch of legal jargon can sometimes work wonders.

The guy is being petty and he knows it. Let him know it's serious and there might be consequences if he goes through with this.

The guy's a dick it sounds like. Trying to use the embarrassment of being a turd and called out on it, in his favor now. I suppose it could be considered assault, but it depends on how the judge feels about the overall situation and testimonies. If anything, you'll get mostly a slap on the wrist or a misdemeanor and community time or something like this. Maybe a fine. But I doubt any judge would take this very seriously for jail time or a criminal record.

I know a guy who went to jail for dumping a drink on a woman's head AFTER she threw a drink in his face. After he dumped the drink on her, she kicked him in the nuts. Guess who went to jail. Him and only him.

I'm not a legal expert , perhaps it qualify as an assault , although its unlikely to have hurt him for very long , I could see it here being termed more of a "mischief " offense rather than an assault , but its still a criminal charge

you should get a good defense lawyer though. i think in this case just admitting and being sorry would be the best to do, cause judges are only human after all and they won't wanna fuck you up if they see you're just a normal person that just had a weak moment.
