Is it possible to live off $1500-$1800 a month?

Question

I’m currently thinking about going to school for a job that makes less than $30,000 a year. I’m not someone who’s ever been interested in living luxuriously, just comfortably. My concern is the salary obviously, and I want to know if anyone thinks it’s possible to live off of this salary. Have you ever lived on this amount?

If you don’t have rent or high rent and high utilities, high student loans, insurance, cell phone bills and no things like car payments outside of regular bills than yeah you could. The system is designed so that most of us have to pay costs for dumb shit and be stressed about paying until we die, unless you’re the super elite. The people you never see that pulls most of modern society’s puppet strings that can make everything go bump in the night.

Depends on how much rent costs where you live. And it would also help if you could use public transportation. It would be extremely hard to pay for an apartment and a car on that income.

Thats my salary. I can eat steak everyday, keep gas tank full, bills paid, and usually Im staring at my loaded wallet wishing I had a guy to spend it on

Yes, it's possible. However, it depends on how much your rent costs, how much you spend on gas and groceries, how often you eat out... basically how well you can make a budget and stick to it. You should calculate your post-tax and post-insurance income and budget based on that. List out all your expenses and see which ones you can reduce or eliminate altogether.

Depends on your spending pattern and cost of living in that city. If the cost of living in that city is naturally cheap and as a person if you save more and spend less, then it shouldn't be a headache for you.

It's possible yes, but probably not as comfortable as you'd like. You'll probably be in an apartment with an older car, and not have a lot of extra spending money

It is yes, but also depends very much on where you live. For example expenses in a small town are going to be less than in a major city!

As a university student yes, but not since then.  minimum wage in some areas is closing in on that level.

Eesh. It'd be a tight fit. My father makes around $60, 000 a year and it takes up around 2 years just to afford a cheap vacation trip. If you like that job thats good, but I recommend having a partner with a job to who can help support you.

I live off of less than that, if you're in a lower cost of living state and vehicle maintenance is cheap you'll have a little extra money to spend, but not much.
