Why would wisdom be cringeworthy? Phrases that make us think and consider our lives in a new light are the sorts of things we OUGHT to consider as people in order to better ourselves. I think many find these cringeworthy because they simply don't wish to think about things. They're content with distracting themselves from life in all of its unfairnesses rather than seeking to learn from their lives and from the simple phrases that communicate truth with great meaning and few words.
cos they're barely wise, just over clichéd and romanticized struggles
Yet they still cause some people to consider what truth they could contain. For example "It's scary what a smile can hide," those who have friends struggling with depression and anxiety or who experience similar things understand exactly what this means. The emotions we show others can lie about what's really going on in our heads. The reality of all the things we feel but never show can overwhelm us and can indeed be scary.
However, most people would probably not put that much thought into it and thus is may just seem an attempt at saying something that sounds poetic. There's an old saying "there is nothing new under the sun." Simply because something is clichéd doesn't mean it's not true or does not apply. Often times these sorts of sayings are intended to make us consider reality in another light. Some of them don't really change anything but others can make a very big difference if someone takes them to heart.
Always remember, something being clichéd does not make it cringy or bad or even necessarily lazy/low-effort. It simply means they are common. Things that are common may be overlooked, but their importance will never be changed by this. Don't disregard things for simply being clichés, you may deprive yourself in the process.
Sometimes... I want to rip my hair out every time I hear a quote by Maya Angelou. She has this ability to say things in a really pretty way that mean abso-fucking-lutely nothing
lol what is it
Here's a good example: "We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty."
FFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCKCKKKKKKKKKKKKKK YYOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
What does that even mean? Who gives a shit if anyone realizes that something needs to change for it to become beautiful?
😂😂😂😂
Like these ones, yes.
If they use cynical humor to hide their depth, however, I do enjoy those. Such method is usually found in ancient proverbs.
yes.
I used the first pic as my gag background for a week 🤦♂️
And no I like them cuz I can relate to most of them
lmao to the gag background
and its ok, embrace the 13 yr old emo
A good wife is one who serves her husband in the morning like a mother does, loves him in the day like a sister does and pleases him like a prostitute in the night.
Mm, sometimes. But when they're accurate they can provide insight.
usually yes esp when theyre pseudo-intellectual
Nah. You want to hear a cringe one?
yes but no but yes
"EXISTENCE IS PAIN!" "Yeah, and I'm an masochist."
Existential jokes.
Doctor, "Wait a second nurse. You're telling me Viagra is not an antidepressant medication?"
Suicidal person, "Why is everything so hard?"
Deep stuff
The 2nd one was a typical feminazi quote.
no, a typical heatbroken 14 yr old girl who got played
"played" by being given special treatment and sucking off her man's money? Sure
That's deep man.
