What do women think about soldiers?

Is it a turn on or a turn off.. I think most women find it a turn off because sometimes we tend to be portrayed as pigs in Hollywood movies. What do you think?

I'm in love with a soldier. He's currently stationed in Kabul and I couldn't be more proud of him. I think that soldiers are -- as are any armed people -- capable of committing atrocities, but that for the most part, their hearts are in the right place. It's also important to note that since 2009, there's been a lot of progress in Afghanistan, and the role of the soldiers is changing. They're brave to willingly leave the comforts of home to help others who need them. I think that as long as the soldier is doing what he/she feels is right, and fighting for a cause that he/she believes in, for the common good, then they deserve whatever support they can get. It's difficult to be placed in a part of the world that's so different from your own, and be completely objective... But I think that Canadian troops, at least, are doing well! All of the soldiers I've met are awesome people, and I don't think that they're any better or worse than anyone else.

I respect soldiers more than you will ever know. I can't imagine doing what they do every day and still staying sane. No it is not a turn off at all. It means he is dedicated and has his life in order. However, I will say, I'd imagine it would be really hard when one's husband would have to go away for combat/war and you didn't know if you'd ever see them again. That would be brutal. And not to be weird. You know in all those movies when you see soldiers standing at the altar waiting for their woman and their all dressed up in their suit with badges. There is nothing sexier. ha ha :)

I think the uniform is hot, and I've dated two military guys. Both of them were awesome people. But I think that the military brainwashes people and forces them to fight wars for the purpose of greed, under the guise of "protecting your country" or for "democracy". Don't get me wrong, it's not soldiers that I have a problem with, its the military and war; and I feel sad that any people buy into the propaganda and have to be part of that.

Well the purpose of the military is to do as you're told. If that means kill babies, then you gotta kill babies. It's not necessarily the soldiers place to know why, he just has to do it.

I completely disagree. I think soldiers should DEFINITELY know why they're being sent to war and putting their lives on the line. Soldiers are people, and I think that people have the right to not be lied to and to make an informed decision about whether or not they want to risk their life for something.

you wouldn't know... were told everything as they are. Whenever I got a intelligence briefing it turned out 100 % correct and accurate. so you don't know what your talking about

So what were you told the reason for the Iraq war was?

Wasnt told anything about that. I never went to iraq only aghan. and don't voice your opinion on something you know nothing about

I'm not talking about whether or not you went to Iraq, but you weren't told a single thing about why Iraq was invaded?

You don't know me, so you don't know anything about what I know or don't know. And god forbid people voice their opinions about things they don't agree with. :)

ive lived it, so you don't knnow what I know. And no I wasn't told by the army I'm sure guys who were in at the time of the invasion were told ; nuclear weapons high possibiltiy. And trust me it wasn't only cia saying this.. it was other intelligence organixations; Canada Britain , Russia,Israel ,Australia the list goes on and on so don't talk about stuff you clearly DONT know anything about. and saying stuff like that just demoralizes all the troops and we hate people who say that were dying for not

and if you really think were being brainwashed and told lies... you really think in this human rights crazed world we live in know that would fly? Do you see congressmen raising questions about this? YOU DONT from either side of the house so again don't say stuff you know nothing about because I've been through training and deployment

You're right---the government and all the people on top are completely transparent and would never lie to you.

I'm not trying to demoralize the troops. I have nothing against them. I just believe that soldiers deserve to be told the truth about what they're fighting for and putting their lives on the line for.

I said, "It's not necessarily the soldiers place to know why, he just has to do it." Depends on the mission, your rank, etc, that you know details and reasons. If you're given reasons...well, couldn't that give you moral pause? It's the military, people. You're trained to kill. And sometimes you have to shot, then ask questions later. Let's say the children you're killing are actually infected aliens portraying as children to give you pause...see? Crazy reasons, but you just got to shot.

@zany1234; I completely understand that; but that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about about being given the facts before you decide to go to war, or even before you decide to join the military in the first place.

Im an ex soldier in the UK, women are always wary of soldiers, and believe that all soldiers are out just for a shag, which to be fair is probably true

If the guy is an honest person and not a pig, I think it can be a little bit of a turn on. Being in the military shows that you are motivated and committed to doing something and you're not just going to give up when one little thing doesn't go your way.

I do not view it as a turn on or off, but it is certainly a positive thing. Both my brothers are in the Amy, and I respect that. I think it takes a lot of bravery.

I think its hit or miss. I'm in the mil and of all branches I prefer army guys. A lot of girls think they are hot in those uniforms and what not but some don't like that. Personality is most important though.

I honestly adore soldiers. They have the power to protect the country and I know they will have the motivation to protect a girl. All the soldiers I've ever met have always been courteous and polite because they are taught to do so in their training. I never view them as pigs. They know how to support and work as a team. And honestly... Most of them are the hottest guys =]

I really respect our troops, & appreciate everything they do for this country. I'd be proud to date a guy who dedicated his time & energy to serving the United States.
