Are you a mean and vindictive person, or one that cares if you are hurting the feelings of others?

I was just asking because I had a very unpleasant experience this morning with a members comments on my Blonde joke post.

I was being light hearted and joking with her as her comments progressed from what I also thought at first were light hearted but progressed into something far more sinister.

How do you view your personality type in your interactions with others on GAG?

Do you ever think that you may have hurt someone's feelings without even realizing it?

This is a sincere question, I am really interested in seeing how you view yourself and your interactions with others.

A. Yes, I can be mean and vindictive at times if I feel challenged or that I otherwise need to defend myself

B. No, I just stop interacting with the person and move on

Hmm, to my shame I must admit that I an be mean when challenged beyond what I can bear. I am usually a very patient person and it takes a lot to get me going.

I try to do the proverbial French saying "turn your tongue 7 times in your mouth before speaking". Usually, I fail after the 5th time when challenged and I can get loud. I do however, not throw a tamper tantrum or throw things at the person I have an argument with.

But as quick as I am to lose my tamper when I am really angry, I am usually also the one to make the first move towards peace and propose truce to talk about the issue that got me upset and say things that I regretted the second they passed my lips.

People say mean things and are deceitful when angry at others. I am no exception because I cannot control my feelings to such an extend. I am impulsive and speak out what I think.

However, I never really mean what I say but I realize that I hurt people when I am so impulsive.

But I can say with confidence that I am not vindictive. There is a huge difference between saying something in the heat of the fight to defend yourself and a person that is vindictive and finds pleasure and satisfaction in willfully verbally hurting someone for one's own pleasure and without regret.

I always regret my verbal derailments and they make me feel miserable until I clear things up and hopefully am capable of smoking the peace pipe.

Now that is a good feeling!

It’s really hard when typing words is your only means of communication to make sure everyone understands your intent. You miss pacing, tone, inflection, body/hand language.

I didn’t the best I can and when someone mistakes what I meant then I point out that maybe I didn’t communicate in the best way possible.

On the other hand sometimes I intentionally provoke people... for various reasons.

Therapy taught me to make peace with enemies.

Bullies kick others because they know how pathetic their life is. So they try to bring others down.

I am nice to everyone i treat people the way i want. to be. treated , if someone isn't nice to me. then i just stay away from. them and walk away , we can't please everyone, I Will only fight back if they get in my face but other then that I am not. going. to waste my energy. on negative toxic people

There’s always going to be someone that gets offended by a post. Trust me u can’t make everyone happy. I think its best to ignore and move on because it’s only going to go back and forth and just be a waste of time

some people get offended really easily and want to stop people from ever joking around i dont like those kind of people. and there are other people who do not believe in intellectual discourse and i dont like those people either. and there are people that will always be rude and assholes to you no matter how much you are nice and polite to them those people should be gone from the face of the earth for it will be a much better place without them. but in general i like to be kind to other people

I am usually nice and friendly. But sometimes, when I get into a discussion with someone and they don't like my arguments or can't make their own, they default to personal attacks. When that happens, I can slip into being very snarky and sarcastic.

A lot of the time, argumentative people just want attention, so either call them out and/or just disengage completely. It’s so easy to become triggered sometimes, but we only have so many hours in the day to fill with things we enjoy. Why give your energy to something so pointless, I know we’re all human, but honestly it’s just really not worth it.
