It's more visible when a woman is emotionaly closer to a man eg-boyfriend, best friend.

I am not convinced that is exclusively the case, however it does have a ring of truth to it.

That's a gross over simplification. In war we need people in country maintaining society. Also Men on average have biological advantages that make them superior for fighting. Not to mention the logistical nightmare a 50/50 army of men and women would be. I mean hell its already fucking difficult dealing with all the logistics and mischief a majority male army has/requires.
Guns, ammo, vehicles, average psychological and biological tolerances and capabilities, social interactions, effectiveness of military policy, willingness to fight, effects of morale drains and boosts, would all have to be studied, recorded, provided for, adapted to, maintained, strengthened, supported or changed. Its difficult enough just doing all this for the contemporary soldier. Just imagin having to scale such things up to or near a 50/50 split of men and women.
In the USA women can be drafted now. Finally a law that makes sense.
