So, I'm just wondering what you guys feel when it comes to your voice. Is it something you think about?
Are you content, or even happy about your sound?
A lot of people seem to either love or hate their own voice. Which is something that creates extra insecurities in regards to public speaking. Or in social settings.
I've recorded my own voice, so you can hear me sound like a radio host with nothing interesting to address. I wouldn't mind if any of you did the same. But I understand if you just want to describe what it's like.
Damn Tyffen I didn’t know you had such a sophisticated accent. Sounds upper class man. It’s a good sound.
With regards to my voice, it’s not as bad as I thought, it sounds mature or rugged but also soft, it’s just when I’m trying to speak very loudly it seems cracked.
I don’t think I want to record my voice for privacy reasons but you definitely have an awesome voice dude
I think your voice is cool with a nice accent. I've become used to hearing mine and I'm content with it but I never really liked it all that much. Oddly some people I meet in person often comment on my voice and say that they dig it and I got some on GaG as well. But to my ears it's so-so. I sound like this:
It always sounds so different to me from how I hear it. There's like a jarring discrepancy there. But I got used to it because I had to record all these videos for my work before where I talked over them, and I ended up having to play them repeatedly while editing to the point where I just ended up getting over the point of absolutely hating it at least. :-D
Well I tried to record but it was a little annoying for me lmao, so I'm going to describe my voice.
I sound like a polite child sometimes with a small tang of county. I grew up in the south so imagine a watered down light weight southern belle. That's me lol.
As far as your voice, I really liked it actually. You speak very clear and I love your accent. Its neat.
I must admit I have a certain weakness for 'southern belle' voices of the sweet, feminine variety ^_^ something about the accent is just very endearing and welcoming
its neither of the 3 i think when anyone hears their own voice its weird to them cause it doesn't seem to sound on the tape as it does in the real life i cannot say i like the sound of my voice, its weird to me, but i dont really care for it so no insecurities there i think its the part of who i am and my charm lol and i dont hear it all the time like that on the tape to be able to be annoyed about it when i talk in real life i sound ok to me lol
For Myself, I do and I don't. To my ears, I sound different from what other people hear. When I was not even one. I had swallowed Lye. My Mother at the time wasn't watching me. I had grabbed the poison and drank it. I do not remember the accident but I can only tell you all what was said to me. The poison had burned my esophagus, part of my inteatines, half of my colon and really damaged my voice box. I use to get made fun of growning up through my childhood because my voice sounded like one of the chipmunks. I had a tracheastomy most of my life. It helped me breathe and communicate. Just recently I had surgery done on my throat. I no longer need the tracheastomy. Just about a week ago. I recorded my voice just so what I sound like now. It sounds raspy and it really sounds like to me that I am speaking through a paper towel roll. You know, the carboard part of it. Guess I have a unique voice.
oh God I flip flop back and forth on this one. Sometimes I really enjoy the sound of my voice, especially when it's got that early morning deep timbre. I guess first thing n morning the diaphragm is more relaxed so "feel" my voice more in my chest. But when I'm nervous or tense my voice just sounds flat and monotone and weird to me, and I get self conscious about that. Some people say I have a radio voice and that I'm quite well spoken (not "posh", just articulate I guess). But some days I just really don't feel good about how my voice sounds. Probably it's coz of some residual memory of being teased for my voice at school that's never really left me.
I have grown to really like my voice. Started taking vocal lessons with my universities music department and I have so much more control over how I sound. And sometimes I really love the way my voice feels. Mostly just content tho
Haha not at all. Most of the time people can't even hear what I'm saying because my voice is son soft. And I feel like I sound too much like an airhead, though I'm not.
My best friend has learnt to read my mouth because she can't hear me most of the time haha.
Well I never have, really. One of the reasons that contribute to why I don't speak up much in crowds. I'm usually ignored, though I know it's not on purpose 😂. An exaggerated wave of my hand does the job, and people quiet down to hear me.
It's weird sometimes. The teachers sometimes use me as a way to quieten the class.
It depends, when I talk it sounds fine and I don't think too much about it, in fact I have even been complimented on my voice but if I hear a recording of my voice or how if sounds in the speakers when I use the microphone - it's the worst sound ever, I was not anticipating this when I made my highschool graduation speech and the second I heard my own voice terror overtook me and I almost forgot all my lines.
I do not like hearing my own voice or starring at myself in a mirror or seeing pictures of myself. It weirds me out. People, however, do like my voice. I've been told I should make videos to explain stuff. I've also been told I have a very calming and seductive voice. I have taken advantage of these traits to talk people out of stressful situations and bring people back from major panic attacks. If it's a gift then I want to use it for good to help others.
I have a soft high voice and I think I sound like a little kid. So I don't like it too much. But other people seem to like it, especially when I sing, so I feel kind of bad not liking my own voice.
Most people compliment the way my voice sounds. They say I'd be a great radio host or that my voice is soothing and deep. 🤷🏻♂️ personally I just think my voice is normal
i think i've got one of those voices that captures people. i don't know what it is. sometimes they can't even understand wth i said, but they like it. i used to record myself as a child and it was a lot different then, but i hated my voice.
I've always hated it. But there was a question posed here several years ago in which GAG members would record and post their voices for anyone and everyone to hear. I've been here for a LONG time so that actually reminded me of it. I never posted mine of course. I was just more interested in hearing everyone else.
I've been here almost 11 years. Cancelled my original account. But it was one of the most popular questions I'd ever seen. Given the right equipment, I'm sure the question could be asked again.
Also when I get happy or drunk, my voice becomes ever so slightly higher, although it still sounds sarcastic. But strangly enough, when I get angry my voice just gets calmer😂
Sevear head trauma.. Supposed to be deciesed.. I have heard people ask others close to me whats wrong with him... After this dirty beating I have a hard time communicating without a struggle

Id leave work an just go out. I dont try to impress.. Just one of them things when u know better just to out of it to realize what your doing... I dont go out hardly drink an if I do go out I keep to myself and stay sober
I've apologized for how my voice sounds LOL but I mean you naturally hear your voice in a lower tone than what other people hear so I guess it makes sense to not like hearing something that sounds so "foreign"? 🤔
@amanda_smith I agree with you. I used to be fairly happy communicating with people because I thought I sounded like I heard myself in my head, then I heard the real me on a tape. Now I very quiet and refuse to wear hearing aids because of the way I sound. The trouble with hearing aids for me is the battle of thinking and reality.
I kind of like it. Wish it was a little deeper though.

I speak English with a strong Asian accent as I have never spoken English for the past 18 years. I dislike it whenever I hear my own voice speaking in English from the recording. I'm insecure with both of my own voice and accent, but I feel appreciated when I hear someone saying that they like the way I talk.

I was actually thinking about and discussing this with a family member not long ago! Any time I hear a recording of myself talking, I think I sound incredibly stupid and have a weird voice. Almost everyone I know feels the same way.
You rarely hear your own voice outside your head, so when you do actually hear it, it's like wtf? I sound like that? Plus I speak unclear with a lower voice at times. Lol dammit.
i talk low and quiet people can't hear me talk most of the time only on the phone its because i had a hormone and testosterone problem growing up during puberty my voice is kinda of high pitched too
It is a lot higher then it is in my head, I can hear EVERYTIME I make a mistake, and worst of all I used to have a speech impediment when I was little and I can still hear it a little bit.
