Why would anyone need to accept homosexuality? If you like butt sex with other men then do what feels good with other guys that are into that and leave everyone else alone. Do you know there are people that participate in beetle fighting as a hobby? You probably never even heard about that right? Yet they still do it and enjoy it. They aren’t out actively promoting beetle fighting and trying to influence the public into accepting beetle fighting as a normal cultural activity. They aren’t trying to infiltrate mainstream media, movies, music, etc. to promote beetle fighting through propaganda campaigns. They aren’t on internet forums making topics of why aren’t you a beetle fighter? They aren’t in the streets holding parades and pride festivals to promote beetle fighting. They just go to their beetle fighting clubs and do their own damn thing. People are interested join in. There are millions of activities just like beetle fighting, why would being gay be special and need some sort of recognition? Most people are straight. Normal sexual relations are how the species continues on and we procreate generating new children to carry on the next generation. It’s in the interest of the survival of the species that people will support being straight and homosexuality will always be an oddity. It’s pretty self explanatory. You do you, just learn to accept that the huge majority of people aren’t going to do what you do or be interested in it.

There is no practical reason not to.
The birthrates drop is insignificant, the increased std (for men) is mostly contained within the group anyways.
The actual reason, I believe, is left-right polarization. American two-party system dictates the environment, in which what one party supports the other should hate.
The more power the left have the more everything they stand for will be hated by the right, just out of frustration towards OTHER problems the left-wing politics create.
Like "they move industry jobs to China, they invite illegal migrants to vote for them AND they support gay stuff? Fuck them!".
And since USA is the world's cultural center this mindset is spread around the world. Honestly, it would be much harder for Russians to keep up their anti-gay believes if it weren't pushed by the same American left, who they dislike a lot.

I think that people accept homosexuality but they don't accept many behaviour of some people who belong of the community like insulting people that don't accept them at all, be so drastic, be ridiculous in some situations, and topics that are related to them like (I just read one and I would like to share it) people who are adults feel in love of children , that's something creepy and , personally, when I read it i feel bad. Well, I've friends who are bisexual and gays and we do normal activities, them behave its normal, no exaggerate so I think the problem is people who represent them in public and have awful attitudes and , unfortunately, people could believe that all people who belong of that community are like them.

Same reason women are homemakers and men aren't allowed to cry. Society has been teaching the ideas of what life is supposed to be, and those beliefs were taught by the generation before, and so on.

In a few words: Brain-washing, conditioning, or misinformation. Usually on the part of their ignorant, ill-informed parent or guardian. Then you throw religious dogma onto already mentally challenged people, and society stagnates & repeats the same circle over, of idiots breeding more idiots, and so on.

Why do so many assume that they HAVE TO ACCEPT it?
You ask this, as if it is MANDATORY to accept that, and then, after that, every other life-style! What if some follow a religion, and THAT IS PROTECTED, in the US, and THEY DON'T HAVE TO ACCEPT IT?

the main reasons are often down to religious beliefs/acceptance... and what influences society has on people from a young age

Accept homosexuality as being OK/proper? no.
