Why do people keep calling me "hippie"?

What makes a hippie, a hippie? Everyone keeps calling me that, and I have no idea why

Do you have hippy ideals? Coming from the `60's, that means: peace, love, rock & roll, psychedelic music and clothes, love beads, tie dyes, blacklights, a love of grass and other psychedelics, equality, standing up for the rights of others, etc., etc...
However, I fear that today's version of a hippy isn't very close to that! Just like today's version of psych has NOTHING to do with the psych we had back in the `60's!!
Watch "Woodstock" or, "The Monterey Pop Festival" or videos of the Summer Of Love gatherings in the parks out in San Francisco. THOSE are hippies!! Are you like that?

Back when Hippies were at thing I was a kid and also an actual Hippie. It was in those days more of a lifestyle but today it is a fashion statement. If you have cultivated a fashion style that looks like teenage girls in the late 1960's than that might explain it.

Don't know why people are calling you hippie, but hippies were common in the 60s~70s, they were pacifists, protesting the war, trying to save the environment, living free, exploring their sexuality freely, smoking weed/taking LSD/Magic mushrooms,...

Loose clothing style, a constant penchant of talking about love, left-wing politics, libertine sexuality, constant usage of drugs, mental capabilities comparable to those of a meter of guard rail.
