0 it is a cylinder. If it's flat like the top of a plastic drink cup, THAT is a hole

One. It goes from one end to the other.
@TurboKid It is the same hole. It just changes as you go along it. There is a name for a hole like that. Can't remember what it is. The other type of hole is like a vagina, and that is a blind hole.

Found it. It is called a Through Hole.

I see. If I understand correctly, you're looking at it from the perspective of the formation of the hole, like forming a single hole going all the way through both sides. I see it more like any independent opening can count as a separate hole. For example, if I dig two separate holes in the ground, but later connect them through an underground passage, I'd still consider them two separate holes in the ground.
@TurboKid I look at it from an engineering perspective.
I see now and makes sense. I think I favor the simple vernacular idea that describes any independent opening in a surface as a separate hole since it requires the minimum knowledge of how the hole is constructed or even knowledge of whether or not one opening connects to another with an inner passageway.
Two... one at each end.
Two, no? Is this a trick question?
None, it's a hollow cylinder.
